I am a hardcore film buff and I love seeing new material in my local area. So when the Williamsburg Film Festival was showing films that were made in my local area, me and my friends all came. I have to say that there were really great films that played that night. But then we saw Opiate, I honestly....have to say its was a super short film...like a music video. But it worked so well. There is no dialogue and it is under 4 minutes!!! It was a simple story, about a man in the armed forces that goes through a stylistic journey as he does the hard drug, heroin. Needless to say...I wish there was only more!! There were many creative pov shots that felt like YOU ARE ACTUALLY DOING IT, in a lighting setup so colorful!!! So at the end of the showing, the director presented himself in the most professional manner and honestly he is a very interesting character... I just wished he would do more work because of the praise everyone gave him! I am going to keep an eye on this guy!!
