Orlando Bloom-narrated documentary series “Earthbound” has been picked up by Keshet International for global distribution.
“Earthbound,” which Bloom also executive produces, is a six-part docu-series that explores apparently ordinary people tackling potentially life-changing environmental challenges.
Farhoud Meybodi (“My Last Days”) wrote, directed and produced the series. Keshet International will screen the doc to buyers at Berlinale Series Market Selects Screenings next week and at London TV Screenings later this month.
Each episode profiles a single environmental visionary, such as 32-year-old engineer, Nzambi Matee, who founded Gjenge Makers, a company that recycles plastic waste into paving bricks.
“This optimistic and solution-orientated series aims to both entertain and inspire viewers around the world to create impact within their community,” reads the logline.

“Zack inspired people to live better. If we did it right, then the movie would do the same,” explains director Justin Baldoni. He is referring to Zach Sobiech, the teenage singer-songwriter whose life is depicted in Baldoni’s Disney+ film “Clouds.” The story was chronicled in an episode of Baldoni’s documentary series “My Last Days,” which followed individuals battling terminal illnesses with a sense of hope and joy. After Sobiech eventually passed away, Baldoni was determined to share his inspiring story with a wider audience. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Baldoni reveals that while Zach was still alive, he promised the teen “that I would do whatever was in my power to keep his story alive. To keep him alive.” The resulting film is “Clouds,” titled after Sobiech’s hit song. “It was my love for Zach and it was my promise to Zach that allowed me to take the risks I took,...

The Toronto Raptors stole one in Oakland last night, and now hold a 2-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, which aired on ABC. Elsewhere on broadcast TV, there was “American Ninja Warrior.”
NBC finished second thanks to its obstacle course competition series and no thanks to “The InBetween.” ABC had an easy win with its hoops championship action, though due to the nature of live sports, the below fast-national Nielsen numbers should be considered subject to significant adjustment.
ABC was first in ratings with a 3.1 rating/15 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 9.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” primetime special had a 1.9/10 and 7 million viewers. At 8:30, “NBA Countdown” landed a 2.0/10 and 6.4 million viewers. The game tipped off at 9, pulling up the evening’s averages.

The series premiere of NBC’s “The InBetween” was somewhere in-between meh and decent, but it was enough to win the 10 p.m. hour. Lead-in “American Ninja Warrior” was primetime’s No. 1 show, and NBC won the evening.

For over a decade, the Television Academy has been saluting TV programming that motivates social change. For its 12th Television Academy Honors this year, the group has singled out seven different honorees, that span genre, format, and platform.
On the series side, FX’s groundbreaking “Pose” and the ABC drama “A Million Little Things” garnered recognition. Netflix’s multi-cam sitcom “Alexa & Katie” is the lone entry from the world of streaming. A pair of documentary series, “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” and “My Last Days,” joined the list alongside doc features “Rbg” and “I Am Evidence.”

Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni admits that he “has no idea” how he convinced Hollywood to let him make his directorial debut Five Feet Apart —a romantic drama starring Haley Lu Richardson and Riverdale‘s Cole Sprouse.
“If this movie being made were a math equation, it wouldn’t add up,” he tells People.
That’s not technically true because Baldoni, best known for his work in front of the camera as reformed rich playboy Raphael on Jane the Virgin, was in the right place at the right time — with the right idea and genuine passion for the project.

It’s almost irrelevant that Justin Baldoni’s “Five Feet Apart” is atypically urgent for a Ya-flavored romantic drama about the impossible love between two star-crossed teenagers. Or that Haley Lu Richardson manages to pump some blood into even the most contrived moments of Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis’ script, reaffirming the “Columbus” and “Support the Girls” actress as a generational talent on the rise. It doesn’t really matter that the movie uses emotionally pornographic M83 songs and The Postal Service covers to pave over its bumpy stretches, or even that its climactic swing for the fences is an exhausting whiff at the end of a film that just needed to get the ball in play.
What’s important about “Five Feet Apart” is that it’s the first widely accessible Hollywood movie ever made about cystic fibrosis, and that it’s good enough to guarantee at least small...

“Riverdale” actress Hayley Law shared fond memories of her co-star Luke Perry, who died on March 4 following a stroke, and vowed the entire series would be dedicated to him.
“Every episode is for him. The whole show is for him. The show wouldn’t be what it is without him,” she told Variety at the premiere of “Five Feet Apart,” toplined by her “Riverdale” co-star Cole Sprouse.
Law plays Valerie Brown, a student at Riverdale High School and Archie Andrews’ (Kj Apa) ex-girlfriend. While her character dated Archie, she shared several scenes with Perry, who played Archie’s father, Fred Andrews. Law said she will cherish “every day on set” she had with him, adding, if she ever had a bad day, he would cheer her up.
“He was so kind to everyone, to fans, to co-workers, anyone. He used to show me pictures of comic conventions and pictures with people.

CBS may not have the NFL’s Thursday Night Football anymore but they had a winning play courtesy of a two-time Super Bowl champion on Friday to push Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition (0.7/4) to a tied top spot for the night.
With former Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49er Deion Sanders poising as an older man looking to improve conditions in his community, the unscripted House of Moonves series had the biggest rise of a relatively slow night. Proving football or at least a well-intentioned football player still holds a lot of sway, Undercover Boss was up almost 40% among adults 18-49 from its May 25 show.
Matching the 8 Pm Undercover Boss in the key demo, ABC’s 10 Pm 20/20 rose a tenth from last week. Facing a Blue Bloods (0.5/3) encore and much promoted Dateline (0.5/3) that featured the first major interview with Andrea Constand since Bill Cosby was found guilty earlier this year of...
