- Every morning Pari (Hetal Gada) and Chotu's (Krrish Chhabria) long walk to school begins with the toss of a coin outside their hut. The winner will decide if the story that will be told on the way to school that day will be one about a Shah Rukh Khan film or a Salman Khan film. The siblings are rivals in their love for the two stars. Pari is devoted to Shah Rukh and Chotu worships Salman Khan (down to wearing a replica of the star's trademark silver bracelet with a blue stone).
Ten-year-old Pari holds her precocious eight year old brother's hand throughout the journey to school and back. She's not just his friend and sister but, since Chotu is visually impaired, she's also his guide. With just months to go before Chotu turns nine, Pari feels the pressure to fulfill her promise to her brother - that he will have his eyesight back before his ninth birthday.
Hope floats when she spots a poster of Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) encouraging eye donations. She begins to write him letters, which of course go unanswered (coz the village postman never posted the letters and gave them to Pari's uncle instead, as he knows the family has no money for the surgery) but when Pari hears that her idol is shooting a movie in Rajasthan she has her mission. Convinced that a meeting with SRK is all it would take to get Chotu his eyes back, the children set off alone on a 300 km journey traversing testing terrain. Back home, Pari's uncle feels very bad as he knows it was his wife's carelessness towards Chotu's nutrition needs that caused his vision blindness in the very first place. The uncle decides to pursue Pari & Chotu and to bring them back. Meanwhile Pari & Chotu take help from generous strangers along the way, who gradually take them on their journey to Jaisalmer. First a truck driver gives them a lift to the correct road to Jaisalmer. Then they hitch a ride with wedding singers who take them part way to Jaisalmer. There they get a jeep taxi ride, but the jeep breaks down. The duo then hitches a ride with a religious procession. The procession drops them in a nearby town, where Pari & Chotu want to get a bus to Jodhpur. But Chotu wants to eat Poori and Bhaji, and while Pari waits in line, the bus leaves. On the religious procession leaders helps the duo. he gets them food and provide them shelter in the night and advises them to leave for Jodhpur by the morning bus.
As Pari & Chotu leaves, the leader calls his colleagues to pick them up from the bus (as they are all part of a child abduction & trafficking ring). Pari & Chotu exit the bus at the cut that goes to Jaisalmer. On the way they are befriended by a foreigner Douglas Adams, who offers them candy. They go singing and dancing with him. At a local rural cafe, the foreigner is approached by an Indian Pradeep, who says that he is going to meet Shah Rukh in Jaisalmer. Pari & Chotu beg to get a ride with him. But Pradeep turns out to be the religious leaders colleague, who drugs the kids & knocks them out. The kids catch a break when PRadeep & his car are stopped by a highway robber gang led by a Romani girl, who rescues Pari & Chotu. A fortune teller in the robbers tribe tells Pari that her wish will be fulfilled only if she reaches her destination on time and an unusual individual will help her get there.
The next day Pari & Chotu are waiting for the bus, when Pari starts following a mad man, Badrinath, who had gone insane a few years ago when he lost his family in an accident. Now he goes around driving an imaginary bus & living on people's grants. Badrinath saves Pari & Chotu from a severe sandstorm and feeds them and protects them. They are eating at a local rural cafe, when Pari runs into one of her relatives and narrates her journey. The relative has a motorcycle, but it is busted and the local mechanic is not able to fix it.
Chotu asks Badrinath to fix the motorcycle, which he does. finally, the relative takes Chotu & Pari to the shooting location in Jaisalmer. But when they reach there, they don't find Shah Rukh, and find that the shooting has been shut down. They find a conman who is taking money from the villagers by selling fake Shah Rukh memorabilia. When he hears Pari's story, he apologizes and tells them that Shah Rukh is shooting for a few more days in a nearby town. The duo set out on foot, but the town is 30 kilometers away and they soon run out of water in the desert heat. They soon fall unconscious & it is implied that are rescued by Shah RUkh's crew. Shah Rukh takes them to a nearby hospital & arranges for Chotu's eye surgery and leaves. Pari & Chotu's father finds them in the hospital. The surgery is successful and Chotu gets back his eyesight. They all return to their village.
