The concept of expanding Sony’s Spider-Man universe originated in 2013, intending to introduce spin-off films, notably one featuring Venom after ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ Disheartened by the film’s reception, Sony abandoned these plans, entering a collaboration with Marvel Studios in 2015, integrating Spider-Man into the MCU.
Despite mixed-to-negative reviews for Ssu movies like Morbius, the universe persisted, with various live-action and animated projects in development, exploring both Spider-Man’s supporting characters and villains. Rumors now suggest two additional projects focusing on Doc Ock and Mysterio, as reported by Caiden Reed on X.
Happy New Year! According to my source, there are two solo projects in development for Doc Ock and Mysterio.

The idea of an expanded Sony’s Spider-Man universe began in 2013, with plans to launch spin-off films, including one centered on Venom, following ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ However, due to the film’s disappointment, Sony abandoned these plans and collaborated with Marvel Studios in 2015, and since then, Spider-Man has been one of the main characters in MCU.
However, despite Ssu movies generally receiving mixed to bad reviews (looking at your Morbius), the Ssu continued and now has plenty of live-action and animated projects in development focusing both on Spider-Man’s supporting character and his villains. If rumors are to be believed, two more projects can be added to that slate projects, focusing on Dock Ock and Mysterio, as stated by Caiden Reed on X.

Mumbai, Aug 3 (Ians) Having been in the Hindi film industry for 11 years, Sunny Leone opened up about the crest and trough of her career. Of course, films not doing well hit hard but the actress said that the infamous interview in 2016 was the lowest point for her.
In 2016, Sunny’s interview became a hot topic after a journalist repeatedly raised questions about her past. Many termed the questions as misogynistic, sexist and highly offensive.
Now that she has been in the industry for over a decade after her debut in 2012 with ‘Jism 2’, there is bound to have been a highest and lowest point for her.
“I think the low points were definitely that one interview that I did that did not go so well and it was the whole journey of that entire experience that made it a low. When a film doesn’t do well it doesn’t feel great,...

Canadian-Indian-American actor Sunny Leone is making her Cannes debut with Anurag Kashyap’s “Kennedy.”
Presumed dead for years, Kennedy (Rahul Bhat) is an insomniac former cop who continues to work for a corrupt system while seeking redemption. Leone plays a pivotal character named Charlie.
“She’s a little bit of a complex character and she hides behind some of her motions. And one of the things she hides behind the most is this laugh. And I believe she’s a woman who’s caught in two different worlds – one is the one that she wants to live in and one is the one she has been deliberately caught up in. I really enjoyed playing this character. And I think she is someone who’s trying her very best to be as strong as possible at every moment of the day,” Leone told Variety.

While discussing “Someday We’ll Tell Each Other Everything” ahead of its world premiere, Atef told Variety that “La Maison” will be filled with a lot of drama and tragicomedy. “It’s very Shakespearean. There’s so much beauty and luxury with old mansions in Brittany, Parisian ‘hotel particuliers,’ and then behind all that there’s so much human poverty, and you see them ripping each other appart for power,” said Atef, who will direct the pilot and three more episodes.

KollywoodJyothika and Revathy try to hold up the show gamely but the amateur writing ends up letting the film down. Sowmya RajendranYouTube screenshotKalyaan has a fondness for conmen. Scratch that. Conwomen. In his previous film Gulebagavali, he brought back Masha from Arangetravelai, giving Revathy a role that women actors of her age seldom play. In Jackpot, the premise is very simple - everything a "mass" hero can do, a "mass" heroine can do. Or do it better. The film rides on the hope that the novelty will keep it afloat because otherwise, all it attempts to be is a leave-your-brains-outside-the-theatre brand of comedy. Jackpot begins in 1918, jumps to 1999 and then arrives at 2019. All three timelines are relevant to the plot, with storylines that converge in the climax. Such films need solid writing to keep them going, especially if they are comedic capers. But Kalyaan's idea of hilarity is on...

Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff movie universe has proven so successful that the studio’s expanding it to TV. This we previously knew thanks to a prior announcement, but now it’s been revealed that Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be helming the entirety of the small screen side of the Spider-Verse, fresh off producing December’s Oscar-winning animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story earlier today that the filmmakers have signed a nine-figure deal with Sony to develop their own comedy or dramas based on Spider-Man related characters for broadcast, cable and streaming as well as supervise Spider-shows from other creators.
Sony Pictures Television president Jeff Frost said the following in a statement, teasing the breadth of what Lord and Miller will accomplish.

Venom arrived in theaters back in October to middling reviews, but that didn't stop talk of all the potential sequels and spinoffs it might spawn.
In an August interview with Total Film, Tom Hardy revealed that Marvel could make up to three Venom movies, saying, "We've signed up for three of them. So it's very much an open case. We'll see what people's responses are to it." Variety also predicted that if the film delivered at the box office, then Sony would move fast to introduce a number of heroes and villains from the Spider-Man universe in the form of sequels to the Hardy outing, as well as stand-alone films. At the moment, Sony's licensing pact with Marvel affords it the rights to around 900 characters, so the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Exclusive: Marvel Studios is fast-tracking Shang-Chi to be its first superhero movie tentpole franchise with an Asian protagonist. The studio has set Chinese-American scribe Dave Callaham to write the screenplay, and Deadline hears Marvel is already looking at a number of Asian and Asian-American directors who want to do something as potentially monumental as was accomplished in Marvel’s first viable Best Picture candidate, Black Panther. That film tied into African and African American cultures and the sensibilities of its nearly all-black cast, with a black director in Ryan Coogler and writer in Joe Robert Cole. The goal here is to do a similar thing: introduce a new hero who blends Asian and Asian American themes, crafted by Asian and Asian American filmmakers.

With the release of Ruben Fleischer’s Venom so close you can practically smell the toxicity in the air, earlier this week, it was revealed that the sinister symbiote will be gracing the cover of Total Film. While the artwork was unquestionably an extraordinary tease of the October 5th release, evidently, what’s on the inside of the magazine is far more tantalizing.

There were more questions than answers on Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 13, and it felt more like a penultimate episode than an actual season finale which made it a bit disappointing.
Still, one thing is for sure: Smurf knows what J has been up to, and the battle lines have been drawn, at least between Smurf and J.
It's unclear at this point where Pope fits into the equation. He's gone off the deep end, and we didn't see hide nor hair of his little suicide kit.
It could be that he might try to work with J to take down Smurf for everything she's done and made him do, but that's something we won't find out until Animal Kingdom Season 4. That seems like an awfully long wait, doesn't it?

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Tuesday’s (trust me on this) wholly unpredictable Animal Kingdom.
After last week’s Animal Kingdom confirmed for Pope that it had been Smurf who’d had Baz rubbed out, it probably didn’t come as any surprise to viewers that in Tuesday’s episode, Andrew was plotting matricide. But what probably did knock you off your couch — it did me, anyway! — was the fact that Janine ended “Homecoming” with a pulse, and someone else entirely was given, in essence, a burial at sea. Who took a swim from which they’d never return?...

You’ve heard of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Universal’s dormant Dark Universe, but what about the SUMC? For the record, that’s the formal name given to Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, which is due to kick-off this fall thanks to Venom.
Per Variety, we know Sony has already drawn up plans for Silk, Nightwatch, Morbius, Jackpot and Kraven the Hunter. Silver & Black are headed to the big screen, too, but they’ve since been redirected to individual solo movies. Couple this with the fact that Sony Pictures currently owns film rights to “roughly 900 Marvel characters” big and small, and it’s pretty clear that the SUMC is bursting at the seams with cinematic potential.
That’s assuming things get off to a good start this October, mind you, when all eyes in the industry will turn towards Ruben Fleischer’s standalone Venom movie and its A-list cast.

Sony Pictures is developing yet another Marvel movie. This one is based on the character Jackpot. While Variety confirmed that the previously reported Silk and Nightwatch are in development, they also revealed that Jackpot is being developed as well.

Making matters worse is the fact that, when Marvel filed for bankruptcy back in the ’90s, the House of M sold many of its A-list characters to rival studios in a last-ditch attempt to stay above water. Variety is reporting today that Sony’s currently developing a movie based on the hero, which looks set to become the latest Spidey spinoff alongside Venom, Silk, Silver & Black, Nightwatch, Kraven the Hunter and the Jared Leto-fronted vampire flick, Morbius.
Of course, all of these films are currently hinging on Venom‘s potential success – or lack thereof – as Sony Pictures may well be staring down the face of a Dark Universe-like situation come later this year where their franchise-starter flops spectacularly, only to raise serious question marks over future installments.

Sony’s Marvel title Silver & Black isn’t moving forward, but will be split up into two separate movies. The original movie was to revolve around Silver Sable, the boss of a war criminal bounty org, and burglar Black Cat. The first title will likely be Black Cat.
It is also expected that Gina Prince-Bythewood, the writer and director of Silver & Black, will depart, but still produce the separate films. If she leaves, the studio will reportedly hire another female director. Sony has access to 900 Marvel characters, and its intent is to grow canons and franchises. Other Sony Marvel properties in the mix are Daniel Espinosa-helming Morbius with Jared Leto starring as the lead vampire and Spider-Man villain, plus projects like Silk, Jackpot and Nightwatch with the studio looking to hire screenwriters for those titles.

“Venom,” the highly anticipated comic book adaptation that hits theaters in October, isn’t just an attempt to do justice to the legendary symbiote after a lackluster appearance in 2007’s “Spider-Man 3.” It’s also a big-budget bet by Sony Pictures that the world of Spider-Man can spawn an inter-connected series of superhero movies to rival what Disney has created with its Marvel characters and what Warner Bros. is attempting to pull of with its DC Comics heroes and villains.
With Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s film studio, Sony is now the only major studio outside of the Magic Kingdom with the licensing rights to Marvel characters. Fox has long had rights to “Fantastic Four” and “The X-Men,” pillars of the Marvel empire, that will now thanks to the magic of a multi-billion dollar corporate merger, be able to interact with Captain America, Iron Man, and other members of the Avengers.
