Steven Moffat is one of the most divisive names in the "Doctor Who" fandom. First he was the beloved writer who gave us one amazing story per season. Then he was given the reins of the show in 2010 and the audience's good will started to slip away. By season 7 he'd gotten a reputation as a guy whose storylines were too complicated for their own good, and as a showrunner who was sort of bad at writing realistic, three-dimensional characters who weren't named the Doctor. Particular scrutiny was given to how he wrote women; we loved River Song when she was introduced in season 4, but by the end of Eleven's run it felt like most of his female characters were just River Song variants. Moffat loves himself an aggressively badass woman who never stops flirting, but fans themselves grew tired of it.

The decade of the 1990s can be considered the essential era of movie history, as it paved the way for all modern cinematography. We all know Tarantino and Lynch’s masterpieces, however, there are lots of films which gained unfairly less attention.
Here are 7 movies of that decade, picked by Reddit, claimed to be must-watches for all.
1. Go (1999)
Directed by the Road House filmmaker Doug Liman, this comedy thriller was considered to be even a “junior” Pulp Fiction. It tells four captivating interlinked stories over the course of one night in LA, narrated non-linearly and from several different viewpoints.
2. Sleepers (1996)
Next comes the star-studded crime drama, following a group of men, who are given a chance to perform revenge on a guard brutalizing them at a detention center. It stars such movie giants as Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Kevin Bacon.

Starting with “Rebel-‘Rouser” in 1958, Duane Eddy’s instrumental hits from the early rock & roll era made the guitar the star of the show. On that song and those to follow, like “Peter Gunn,” “Cannonball,” and “Forty Miles of Bad Road,” Eddy used vibrato and lent his guitar a deep sound by emphasizing bass strings. In doing so, he influenced an entire incoming generation of guitar players — including Bruce Springsteen, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, and John Fogerty. After the news of Eddy’s death was announced on Wednesday — he died...

At this point in the season, new episodes of The Voice drastically narrow down the field. The Knockout stages are over, and the competition will only intensify.
Coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay still have many talented singers on their respective teams. But that would all change in a new episode of The Voice.

Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River sits at an exclusive roundtable of perfectly written and directed movies that capture stories with artistic gusto and an important socio-cultural message. Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan had a bad falling out with Kevin Costner, that essentially ended the series’ successful run. However, Sheridan was fully committed to the series which was inspired by all the Western films he saw as a youngster. One film that influenced the Wind River director was the Oscar-winning film Unforgiven. Sheridan approached his icon Clint Eastwood to get permission to use the Unforgiven theme song in one Yellowstone scene.

Eastwood saw the heart in Sheridan’s Western project and allowed him to use Claudia’s Song, something he never allowed other filmmakers to do. The song was written and performed by Eastwood in the 1992 film.

Terence Winter’s riff with Taylor Sheridan has apparently been mended.
The Emmy-winning “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Sopranos” veteran is returning to Sheridan’s “Tulsa King” series after parting ways with production after its first season. Winter served as the original showrunner on the Paramount+ series, but tensions with creator and executive producer Sheridan led to Winter exiting.
“Tulsa King” stars Sylvester Stallone as a crime boss setting up a new empire in Oklahoma. An Oscar-nominated screenwriter himself, Stallone claimed he penned some of the “Tulsa King” dialogue as the series did not have a writers’ room.
Now, Winter is confirmed to be among the writers for Season 2 of the show, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Cineverse's AsianCrush will be releasing River, the latest from Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes' Junta Yamaguchi, on AsianCrush starting one two weeks from today, February 16th. Seeing as both of Yamaguchi's movies have been big favorites of mine I'm pleased to have been asked to share with you an exclusive clip from this upcoming release. From the director of the sci-fi comedy cult hit Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes comes another tiny time-loop adventure. Something very strange is happening at the Fujiya, a long-established inn in snowy Kyoto: Hot sake that doesn't get hot, no matter how long you boil it. A pot of ice porridge that won't go empty, no matter how much you eat. A bathroom that you can never leave, no matter...

In recent years, Netflix has lost plenty of licensed content, but many will be surprised to learn that some of the removals from Netflix have been Netflix Original titles. Here’s the complete list of every removed Netflix Original since 2017.
To get to the bottom of why Netflix Original titles leave, they usually fall into one of several categories.
The majority leave because Netflix does not own them. Instead, they’re distributed internationally exclusively by Netflix for a fixed period of time. Secondly, it could be temporary or permanent licensing problems. For example, Beat Bugs left due to licensing problems for a short period of time, whereas Slasher was removed for some time because the owner of the series went bankrupt. Thirdly, some titles are time-specific. These include New Year’s Countdowns, for example. We won’t list these below. Next,...

Kiefer Sutherland is recalling a sweet anecdote from the set of Stand by Me and remembering his late co-star River Phoenix.
The 24 actor is looking back at his time while filming the Rob Reiner coming-of-age drama movie and shared a heartwarming story about Phoenix that also came to possibly influence the title of the film.
“We were making Stand by Me, which was a Stephen King short story called The Body, and River Phoenix was learning guitar and playing guitar and he was actually very, very good. And he was getting really good at a very, very fast rate,” Sutherland said during an interview on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. “And I was playing Stand by Me and singing that song, and he said, ‘Oh, I love the melody of that song,’ and he hadn’t heard it before.”

Exclusive: Virgin River just completed its fifth season with a two-episode Christmas special. It followed a 10-episode Part 1, which was released in September. The upcoming sixth season won’t follow the same pattern.
“No, I don’t know if I would do the holidays again. It’s sort of, been there done that, and I feel like we did it in a big way that I wouldn’t even know where to start to explore,” Virgin River showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Deadline in an extensive interview. “I think we’re probably looking at a 10-episode season moving forward.”
After producing 10 episodes in Seasons 1-3, Virgin River went up to 12 episodes in Seasons 4 and 5. The hit romantic drama starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson is now expected to go back to 10 episodes a season, starting with Season 6, with no more holiday specials planned.

Warning: contains plot spoilers for Shetland series eight, episode two.
The Shetland islands only have a population of 22,000 – roughly a tenth of the number of people who go to Glastonbury Festival – so up there, you can expect to run into the same faces time and again. It’s no different for Scottish actors on TV. There are only a finite number, and in a long-running series like BBC One’s Shetland, sometimes cast-members get recycled from one role to another.
That’s what happened with Ann Louise Ross, the actor who plays farmer and widower Agnes Moffat in Shetland series eight. We first met Agnes in episode one, when (temporary Di) Tosh is investigating a series of livestock murders. Several of Agnes’ sheep have been found with their throats cut and daubed in their blood with a mysterious symbol.
In episode two, that same symbol is also found tattooed on...

There are a lot of actors in the world and only a finite amount of roles, so it's not usually surprising to hear that two actors who worked together both tried out for the same role at some point. Heck, the guys from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" even met while auditioning for the same roles in New York City, so there's a lot of actor crossover at different auditions. One of the more surprising battles for a role, however, comes from the late Matthew Perry and his "Friends" co-star, Matt LeBlanc. The two would become close friends while filming the 10 seasons of "Friends," but once upon a time in the mid-1990s, they were role rivals for the starring role in... a movie about a baseball-playing ape. I know animals playing sports were really big in the 90s, thanks to "Air Bud," but "Ed" arrived the year before. So...

Japan’s Nikkatsu studio is pitching “River” at the top of its Tiffcom sales slate. The film – on which it shares rights with Third Window Films – is a time loop comedy from Yamaguchi Junta, director of “Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes.”
The one-hundred-year-old Fujiya inn stands in a quiet region of Kyoto. An employee is standing in front of the Kibune river at the back of the building when she is called back to work. But two minutes later, she finds herself back at the river again. The whole inn seems to be stuck in a time loop! Not only Mikoto, but other staff and guests begin to feel something strange. Hot sake does not get hot. Rice porridge never gets eaten and there’s a bathroom that is impossible to leave. For all that people can’t move forward, their memories are intact. Some people want to leave. Others want to stay.

No singing genes for Kelly Clarkson’s kids. Or at least that’s what the Grammy winner’s hoping. Clarkson doesn’t want her two children to have any of her musical talents. Yes, really. She’s producing projects based on two of her long-form stories for The Atavist, “The Girl in the Picture” and “Crushed,” and has worked on iHeart’s podcast Solve and Vespucci’s Paperless. Max is also developing a scripted series based on The Way Down, with Sarah Paulson set to star as its central figure, Gwen Shamblin.

The details are still being ironed out, but a new Suits series is in early development at NBCUniversal.
According to our sister pub Deadline, series creator Aaron Korsh — who just last week declared that he “underestimated” the show’s popularity amid its Netflix-buoyed resurgence — is working on a new iteration of the ex-USA Network phenom that is neither a revival or reboot. Rather, the hour-long project would be set in the Suits universe and revolve around new characters in a new location (possibly Los Angeles).

The decision to pick up Sullivan’s Crossing wasn’t a huge departure for the CW; romantic, field-good series like Hart of Dixie, Life Unexpected and Everwood have long been hallmarks of the network..
Still, the show was immediately labeled as a cheap import because it first launched in Canada in March, where it became CTV’s highest-rated drama launch on over two years. It is produced by Reel World Management in association with CTV with Fremantle as global distributor. It’s from Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry, the team behind Netflix’s Virgin River.
“We have to be entrepreneurial. We can’t just write a $10 million per-episode check for a show with some dragons in it,” President Brad Schwartz said during the upfronts in May.
