Henry Danger, my younger brother's favorite show on Nick about a boy living a double life as a normal person and a superhero's sidekick, caught my attention today. Now Henry Danger is a cute show. It is funny, interesting, and has a good plot. But while hearing my brother watch the episode "Kid grounded" I heard something alarming said by one of the characters. Charlotte, Henry's friend, brings up the topic of her becoming a sidekick instead of Henry. And Henry and his friends respond with a chuckle, and say "You're a girl. Girls can't be sidekicks." Now, what the heck is that for? are you seriously telling me that this show is sexist? I would expect more from Nick, considering they have a show called "Bella and the Bulldogs" about a girl who becomes a football player on her school's team, despite the past traditions. And even though the episode ends with Charlotte proving Henry and his friends wrong, I am disappointed with finding out that this is what garbage is being put into kid's minds these days. Weather people like it or not, TV is probably one of the main influences for young people. It weaves its way into their minds and impacts their behavior and future ways of viewing the world and people around them.
If this is what TV is teaching kids these days, then I am looking for some serious change.
