If you’re still pining for more Texas Chainsaw action after the easily forgotten Leatherface, Warner Archive brings good news.
As reported by the folks at Bloody Disgusting, the company has confirmed that, yes, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is headed to Blu-ray in 2018.
There’s currently no mention of an exact release date, but fans of Jeff Burr’s criminally underrated horror sequel will soon be able to take home the 1990 cult favorite. Angled as the third entry into the time-honored Texas Chainsaw franchise, Massacre III was also the first instalment to come by way of New Line, which was recently responsible for transforming Stephen King’s It into a global phenomenon.
Alas, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III didn’t fare terribly well when it released 27 years ago, but Warner Archive’s mooted announcement ensures that the film will receive a new lease of life come 2018. You’ll be...

Best. Finale. Ever. One of the the best seasons of Top Chef came to a close on Thursday night, with season 14 ending in a culinary battle between Brooke Williamson and Shirley Chung, both fan-favorites from their respective seasons. But in the end, only one chef could win the title of Top Chef, and it was... Brooke Williamson! Originally eliminated in week 11, Brooke returned to the competition the following week after winning Last Chance Kitchen. Talk about a comeback! Brooke was the runner-up in season 10, while Shirley was a finalist in season 11. Brooke and Shirley actually battled it out on Top Chef Duels in 2014, with Shirley ultimately winning (though Brooke left with...

Imagine having to relive the same day for an undisclosed period of time. Now imagine if that day was filled with snotty, self-obsessed, failed Mean Girls prototypes. Cringing yet? Then you’ll loooove Before I Fall, a Ya adaption that misrepresents the easiest of messages. Themes are simple – be excellent to one another! Except in order to do so, characters must first act like morally reprehensible, astonishingly plastic high school stereotypes. Because, redemption? Except director Ry Russo-Young resets the same day ad nauseum, so what’s to say characters change based on one freaky Friday? And then there’s – sorry, wait. I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start small.
Wow – what the hell did I just watch?
Zoey Deutch stars as Samantha Kingston, a privileged suburban teenager who takes life for granted. Her squad of betches live it up like queen bees, kissing the hottest boys and attending the raddest parties.

You never know what you’re going to find at the “night drop” at the Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter in Wildomar, California. In this case, it was a dog that looked a lot like a pink Dalmatian.
The pink pup and a buddy, who are actually boxers, were there waiting on the morning of Feb. 13 — both suffering from a treatable skin condition called demodex mange. They would both later be named Asia and Artie. While some people give information about the animals they’re leaving behind at the anonymous drop-off kennel, on this particular day, that wasn’t the case.

(Spoiler warning: Last chance to stop reading if you don’t want to know anything about “Logan,” the third Wolverine film.) “Logan” takes place in the year 2024. The film is dark. Darker than any other other “Wolverine” or “X-Men” movie. Old Man Logan is in full effect. Logan looks bad, and drinks a lot. For work, he drives a 2024 Chrysler 300 limo that looks modified in the front to look more futuristic. He’s sick, his powers are fading, and he heals much more slowly — and sometimes not at all. What is this? Oscar Isaac, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Felton and Jessica Lange? Big name casts for movies that don't seem to actually exist that you suddenly realize do, in fact, exist, are kind of unnerving. Like how do movies that never really get released find financing to get made in the first place? Apparently Oscar Isaac plays an artist in this one (they're looking at a portrait he painted of Felton) so that's kind of smudgy hot regardless. Isaac with paint stains I mean.

In the effort to stay au courant we'll alternate between Netflix and Amazon Prime for streaming news each week. And we'll freeze frame select titles at random places just for fun and see what image comes up. You know how we do.
Last Chance Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime has a far better movie selection than Netflix on a month to month basis but they are officially the worst streaming provider in terms of providing dates of expiration on their movies/tv shows. Sometimes the titles don't expire after they're marked for expiration and sometimes they vanish even if they haven't been marked. Sometimes without warning they suddenly cost money when they were once free. And they don't do press releases to announce expiring titles like the other services. So it's all rumors in a way. But supposedly they're losing these titles (among others) at the end of July and they're all worth checking out.

In the effort to stay au courant we're going to try to do "new to streaming" weekly, alternating between Netflix and Amazon Prime sometimes, big lists, sometimes highlights. This will also give us a chance to link to previous coverage of the old films that are "new" again via the power of the internet. But first a last chance notice...

Serenity
I've been curious to watch Serenity (and Firefly for that matter) again to see if you can easily chart Joss Whedon's growth from self-created warm-up to Studio-hire mega-success in The Avengers. He was always good at selling team dynamics, though. That was clear from the earliest episodes of Buffy. We previously covered Serenity in Season 3 of Hit Me With Your Best Shot. I miss Whedon as TV creator on...

Netflix is quickly becoming the go-to place to find great documentary films and series. With the success of last year’s doc series “Making A Murderer,” everyone is waiting for that next must-see binge watching experience. Instead of true crime, the streaming service is hoping that audiences will care about college football instead. Netflix just dropped the […]

The title comes from the fact that Emcc’s team consists in part of players who were let go from Division 1 programs due to failed drug tests, bad grades or other troubles; the school represents a chance to revitalize their fledgling careers and reorient themselves as they work toward graduating and/or eventually turning pro. “Messed up, dug a hole,” one player says. “Gotta climb out of it.” The giant massive stadium in a town with a population of 712 coupled with a devoted fanbase should be familiar to “Friday Nights Lights” enthusiasts.
