Taylor Swift is now the artist with the most wins for Album of the Year as she earns her fourth trophy, thanks to Midnights.
On Sunday, the Eras Tour singer took the stage to celebrate the accolade. She’s now won the Grammy for Album of the Year for LPs Fearless in 2010, 1989 in 2016, Folklore in 2021, and now, Midnights in 2024.
Swift took the stage, accompanied by her producer and “one of my best friends” Jack Antonoff, describing him as a “once in a generation producer” as she accepted the award, and thanked her collaborators.

Snoop Dogg Changes Views On Donald Trump, Claiming He Has ‘Nothing But Love And Respect’ For Him Now
After trolling former President Donald Trump with his video for the song “Lavender” and his EP “Make America Crip Again,” Snoop Dogg claims to have “nothing but love and respect” for him these days.
Snoop Dogg has been a notable Trump troller in the past, with a history of poking fun at the former president. However, now he has displayed a different point of view when referring to Trump.
He has recently hinted several times that the problems they have had in past years have been resolved.
“Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times. “He has done only great things for me. I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
One notable act of generosity that the rapper referred to is the pardon of his friend and founder of Death Row Records, Michael “Harry-o” Harris. Trump...

First he shocked the world by proclaiming he was giving up smoking.
Now, Snoop Dogg has delivered what is, perhaps, a bigger shocker. In an interview with The Sunday Times of London, the rapper said he has respect for the man who “has only done great things for me.”
“He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris,” Snoop Dogg said.
Harris is a cofounder of Snoop Dogg’s first label, Death Row Records. He was imprisoned for drug trafficking and attempted murder, according to The New York Times. Trump pardoned Harris in January 2021.
“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” Snoop Dogg said.
Things have been much less civil between Trump and Snoop in the past.

Clairo has shared a new demo recording called “Lavender,” released via Bandcamp with all the proceeds going towards Doctors Without Borders. Stream it below.
Like her previous Bandcamp demo for charity from this past April, “For Now,” the new single, “Lavender,” features a lo-fi arrangement spotlighting Clairo’s voice singing in harmony. In lieu of the electric piano carrying “For Now,” however, is a folksy acoustic guitar, with a fuzzy warmth and sense of intimacy similar to a Nick Drake or Townes Van Zandt record. “When I’m with you I’ll be alright,” she longingly sings, “No one beats you, baby/ No one takes your place from me.”
As of now, “Lavender” is exclusively on Bandcamp, and can be purchased for $1. Clairo posted the track along with a note that the funds raised would be going to Doctors Without Borders. She also included a link to a recent article...

Taylor Swift may be entering her “mermaid era.”
The “Lavender Haze” singer, who kicked off her Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona over the weekend, has gone viral after shocking concertgoers with a creative stage trick in which she dove headfirst into a rectangular-shaped hole on stage, wearing a long ruffled dress.
As Swift disappeared beneath the stage, special effects were used to create a graphic of the singer swimming underwater, across the catwalk and back towards the main stage. Then, a huge wave splashed onscreen, sending graphic ripples down the entire stage. As the wave crashed, Swift magically re-appeared onscreen, emerging from a bed in a brand new outfit. Transitioning into her next musical sequence, she climbed a ladder, heading straight for the clouds.

Taylor Swift releases Midnights: Fans and critics praise the dark and cryptic album - as it happened
Taylor Swift has released her 10th album, Midnights, along with a new video and a surprise seven additional songs.
Critics have so far shared positive review, includingThe Independent which gave Midnights five stars. Critic Helen Brown called it her “darkest and most cryptic album yet”.
Fans are also praising the record, and claiming that Swift temporarily crashed Spotify upon the release of the seven bonus tracks.
Many are now poring over Swift’s lyrics for her usual easter eggs and any references to her personal life.
A few particuarly pointed lyrics in “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” – taken from the album’s 3am Edition – seem to allude to her previous relationship with John Mayor.
The release of the music video for “Anti-Hero” – directed by Swift, herself – has certainly provided Swift fans with plenty of material to pour over.

As film festivals pivot to the ever-shifting landscape of distribution and sales, the way we consume independent film is changing more dramatically than anyone could have predicted. Audiences can now experience a wider variety of films online, opening a world of possibilities that will hopefully benefit smaller films. With any luck, the new reality will broaden movie lovers’ horizons enough to include short films, which U.S. audiences can be reluctant to embrace. Most filmmakers begin to craft their voices with shorts, and given the significance of making a strong first impression, the format encourages creative risks. What’s more, younger and emerging filmmakers naturally have a finger on the pulse of more progressive ideas, ensuring a broader range of perspectives.

Exclusive: ITV has commissioned a series of four drama shorts, working titled Unsaid Stories…, which have been inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement.
In an anthology format not dissimilar to the Jeff Pope-produced Isolation Stories that ITV aired during the coronavirus lockdown, Greenacre Films — the producer behind Netflix’s Michaela Coel-fronted feature Been So Long — will make the 15-minute episodes to be broadcast next month.
Each episode has diverse talent at its heart and ITV head of drama Polly Hill said they are “unique, fresh and engaging” stories about “real people in completely real situations, confronting and exploring racism and prejudice.”
Jerome Bucchan-Nelson, a writer on Sky hit drama Bulletproof, will pen Generational. It explores the relationship between a Black father and his teenage daughter, when William catches Justina sneaking out to attend a Black Lives Matter demonstration. Alrick Riley (NCIS) is the director, while Barbara Emile (EastEnders) is producing.

Betty encountered many obstacles on Mrs. America Season 1 Episode 4, which she endured alone.
The mother of second-wave feminism demonstrated how difficult it could be to lead a movement, especially if it seems like nobody is on your side.
But Betty did not give up, even when the world seemed to be against her.
But the main message of the episode was not perseverance in the toughest of times, even though it was still critical. The main message of "Betty" was women are stronger together when they are on the same team.
Phyllis and Betty will never be on the same side, but there was a lot of heavy tension between Gloria and Betty as well.
Things have been rocky between Gloria and Betty since Mrs. America Season 1 Episode 2 when Betty disagreed with how Gloria went about the women's liberation movement.
It has only gotten worse.
The two women barely talked to one another.

Open relationships, throuples, polyamory — 21st century sexual configurations have not always received the most nuanced cinematic renderings. Few filmmakers have truly interrogated what polyamory looks like in real life without resorting to cheap thrills and even cheaper jokes. Which is what makes “Lavender,” an elegantly crafted short film starring “Ugly Betty” star Michael Urie, such a revelation. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where it was quickly nabbed by Fox Searchlight’s brand new short film distribution arm and became a Vimeo Staff Pick premiere as of today.
“Lavender” is the second narrative short from gay filmmaker Matthew Puccini, who wrote and directed the short. His first film, “The Mess He Made,” starred Max Jenkins (“High Maintenance”) as a man waiting for the results of an HIV test. “Lavender” is just as plaintive in tone, though its themes are slightly lighter. Debbee Klein, a top agent in Paradigm’s TV literary department, has pledged that Paradigm will strive to achieve gender parity among its agents by 2020.
“At Paradigm, we’ve made a big commitment to 50/50 by 2020 and I hope we get there. There’s never been a year where it’s more advantageous for women to get hired,” Klein said Thursday at TheWrap’s third annual Be Conference at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.
“It is important that our agency pool reflects our client list, and most of these agency pools don’t right now. They are male-driven, they are white for the most part. They are good agents, but it’s time to open this up and take that seriously,” she said in a panel with Untitled Entertainment’s Jennifer Levine moderated by TheWrap’s senior film reporter Beatrice Verhoeven.

Alec Guinness would’ve celebrated his 105th birthday on April 2, 2019. The Oscar-winning performer excelled in comedy, drama, and most famously, science fiction, starring in dozens of movies before his death in 2000 at age 86. But how many of those titles remain classics? In honor of his birthday, let’s take a look back at 15 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1914, Guinness got his start in theater, winning a Tony for his performance in the Broadway play “Dylan.” He adapted and starred in a stage version of Charles Dickens‘ “Great Expectations,” playing the role of Herbert Pocket. Among the audience members was David Lean, who brought the book to the screen in 1946 and cast Guinness in his first movie.

Revamping Richard Wright’s 1940 seminal novel via a modern adaptation by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, first-time feature director Rashid Johnson has made a thunderous impression with “Native Son,” which had its world premiere Thursday at the Sundance Film Festival.
A gut-punch of a debut that examines race relations in America with unabashed force, Johnson’s present-day interpretation proves, disgracefully, how pertinent Wright’s text remains.
Still set in Chicago and subdivided into “Fate,” “Fear,” and “Flight” segments (as in the source material but in rearranged order), the thought-provoking film is steered by Bigger “Big” Thomas, a non-conformist African American youth garbed in a customized leather jacket and sporting green hair.

Characters in horror films would be well advised to heed a couple of simple rules: Repressed memories should by all means stay repressed. And whatever you do, avoid walking through mazes.
Unfortunately, such advice would be lost on Jane (Abbie Cornish), the heroine of Lavender, the latest effort by director Ed Gass-Donnelly (Small Town Murder, The Last Exorcism: Part II). A photographer who specializes in shooting rundown, abandoned farmhouses (not hard to see where this is going), Jane finds her life upended after a serious auto accident that leaves her with memory loss.

Out today in theaters, VOD, and Digital HD from Samuel Goldwyn Films and Ambi Media Group is the supernatural thriller Lavender, and we caught up with co-writer / director Ed Gass-Donnelly for our latest Q&A feature to discuss the making of his new horror film.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Ed. How did you initially get involved with Lavender, and what attracted you to telling this story that you also co-wrote?
Ed Gass-Donnelly: My co-writer, Colin, brought me a draft years ago that I optioned and we developed together. It was one of those projects that had to spend a lot of time in a drawer before we could figure out exactly what it needed to become. I’ve always been attracted to the idea of ghosts being memories frozen in time, that a psychological haunting can be just as terrifying as a supernatural one.

Like many gothic ghost stories, Lavender centers around a woman with a vulnerable psyche and a shadowy past. In this case, the woman is Jane (Abbie Cornish), a young mother and wife who may have butchered her parents and sister as a child (she has no memory of this). When she's not at home with her husband and daughter, Jane photographs abandoned farmhouses, not unlike the one she grew up in. It's not until she begins having strange dreams and receiving anonymous, mysterious trinkets that she winds up photographing her own old house -- the scene of the crime -- without knowing so. Shortly after taking the picture, Jane sees a little blonde girl in the middle of the road, and swerves to avoid hitting...

Ed Gass-Donnelly left a huge impression on me a few years ago with the release of Small Town Murder Songs (review), a little Canadian thriller with Peter Stormare in a rare leading role.
The movie garnered Gass-Donnelly a lot of attention including being named one of Variety's "10 Directors to Watch" in 2011 which lead Gass-Donnelly to head to Hollywood to direct The Last Exorcism Part II. That movie turned out to be a disaster but Gass-Donnelly has persisted, taking it as a learning experience and continuing to make movies on his own terms.
