In the biz I think they call it "second season-itis." Before I start the review, let's be clear. I was one of the first fans and first reviewers of this series. In fact I think I reviewed more individual episodes of season 1 than I have any other series, and I have done a lot of reviews.
And season 3 is now booked, so the fans clearly have the last word.
But the point of a review is to review, and I say that Season 2 is as far from Season 1 as the moon is from earth.
S01 was technically perfect. Killer scripts against a MMA backdrop so well produced you thought you were watching a documentary.
And season 2? Well they have maintained the documentary vibe but the killer scripts are gone. It is as if the writers used up every good idea in S01 and have nothing left but great characters and great actors.
The fact that S02 is still an OK show is a testament to the wonder of s01. I just hope the writing team get their groove back before s03.
