- Barry steps in as president and starts preparations for democratic elections; Daliyah assumes a more significant role in leading the nation; army leaders want revenge; an American general arrives in Abuddin.
- With Jamal's life in danger and Abuddin on the verge of plunging into chaos, Barry steps forward as interim president and sets the stage for democratic elections. Daliyah takes a leading role in the nation, bringing her close to Barry. Swept up in the tides of revenge, army leaders overstep their bounds in securing peace. An American General who shares history with Leila arrives in Abuddin.
- With Nusrat having critically shot Jamal, Barry is seen by the Abuddin populace even more so as the next President, regardless of if Jamal lives or dies. These initial days are crucial with opposing forces ready to pounce on leadership unless Barry takes control. What the populace ultimately expects are free elections, with the further expectation that Barry will be the first freely elected leader. But Nusrat's act changes the face of the transition of power to Barry. Ahmed and Rami want to stand quietly by Nusrat, as does Barry, despite her act being seen as treasonous, with Barry's perspective being that she did what many have attempted to do or should have done many time previously. Leila and Ahmed do not want to lose power, Jamal's removal from the Presidency which would basically shut them out unless Barry says otherwise. And Molly, Sammy and Emma all have a different perspective of what their family life is and will be all about than what it was before they came to Abuddin. But the military has its own view of what should be happening, regardless of what Rami, as the military leader, has to say. The transition will be made all the more easy however with Ihab Rashid having been exiled to a prison in another country, which removes him from harm. Through it all, Barry does understand his role in the transition, to a point, which is an area of contention between him and Lea Exley/the Americans. Barry also sees that Daliyah has become a symbol of the transition, and thus wants to use that goodwill, which may cause some friction with Molly, who is questioning Barry's love for her.—Huggo
