Following its well-received screening at the 2018 Overlook Film Festival, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (written by Bone Tomahawk director S. Craig Zahler) was acquired for North American distribution by Rlje Films. It's been playing the festival circuit and will be getting a Us theatrical and VOD release on August 17th. Having seen the movie at Fantasia, I can say that this movie has some of the most insane and bloody kills ever put on screen, and if you want to see some of that for yourself ahead of August 17th, take a look at the newly released red band trailer:
"The reimagining of the Full Moon Features cult classic stars Thomas Lennon (TV’s “Reno 911!”), Jenny Pellicer (TV’s “Cocaine Godmother”), Nelson Franklin (TV’s “Veep”), Charlyne Yi (This is 40), Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers), and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator). The iconic Udo Kier (Brawl in Cell Block 99) stars as the titular character.

In the real world, home invasion is a frightening proposition, but in a funny new clip from A Bad Idea Gone Wrong, it looks like an amusing way to spend a little time with a couple of harmless fellows. The film follows "two would-be thieves who arm the alarm system and have to break out of the house they just broke into. The discovery of a house sitter brings double crosses, sexual tensions, and wild discoveries that make their escape more difficult." Our clip sets that up nicely. More from the official statement: "This comedy won three awards on the festival circuit this year, including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Ensemble Cast at SXSW. Directed by Jason Headley, the film stars Matt Jones (Breaking...

"Who are these people trying to protect themselves from?" Freestyle Digital Media has debuted the first trailer for the indie comedy A Bad Idea Gone Wrong, a goofy film about two wanna-be thieves who trap themselves in a house they just broke into. Yeah, it's pretty much one of those why-not, let's-try-it concepts that kind of works, but also kind of doesn't. This played at a few festivals this year to quite a bit of acclaim, like winning the Best Feature prize at the dead Center Film Festival. The cast of A Bad Idea Gone Wrong includes Matt Jones, Will Rogers, Eleanore Pienta, Sam Eidson, and Jonny Mars. This looks a bit odd, there's something weird about the trailer that doesn't feel quite right to me. But I do think this seems like the film would be worth seeing at a festival. There's something quirky about it that's appealing enough.

Writer/director Jason Headley’s debut feature represents the sort of unassuming, low-key comedy whose minor pleasures become magnified when showcased amid film festival dross. But it nonetheless signifies a talent to watch. A Bad Idea Gone Wrong should find appreciative audiences in home viewing formats thanks to its quirky humor, enhanced by terrific performances from its cast, who won a special jury prize for best ensemble cast at SXSW.
