A sign that reads "Shemp's" hangs outside the demolition derby. This is a reference to the stand-ins and body-doubles used throughout the 'Evil Dead' franchise, and Sam Raimi's other work, that have been jokingly referred to as 'fake shemps', itself a reference to Shemp Howard's sudden death in 1955 and the need to replace him with such techniques in the 'Stooges' films. These films are also referenced many times in the 'Evil Dead' franchise and were a huge influence on it.
