I think RD is in stalemate right now. Lots of things seem to happen (lots of murders, new characters like the Texan or Dmitri or Butch etc. etc.) but everything fades too quickly. Their treatment is all superficial. Like today's episode "Lake Hollywood" which looks and feels like a "filler" episode, especially if you be counting-in scenes like Abbie's "Layla" segment.
There are numerous plot holes here too, but I wont bother you with these since many members have pointed them out in the boards.
I think no one really cares about all the "drama" in Ray Donovan. Is there any viewer who gives a dime about Mickey's black singer's death? About Abby's cancer? About Bunch's wife? About Bridget's teacher? About Connor's addiction with guns and violence? About Terry's new flame?
The Writers are too blame. They jumped too many sharks. They just filling pages in their computers. No inspiration, no substance. They follow a norm that goes nowhere: Present an unbelievable situation and throw impossible to overcome obstacles every 10 minutes that will be ...resolved instantly and in a magical (read ridiculous or implausible) way. And it happened to a lot of good shows with potential like Suits.
Good TV bleeds.
