During the worst of the pandemic, PBS and Channel 5 drama “All Creatures Great and Small” became the essential, wholesome viewing audiences craved in troubled times.
Now, the beloved show about a group of country veterinarians in England’s Yorkshire Dales is about to embark on its own dark chapter as its characters look ahead to the horrors of World War II.
At a virtual TCA presentation on Thursday, producer Colin Callender of Playground Entertainment and Susanne Simpson of PBS’ “Masterpiece” joined cast members including Nicholas Ralph, Samuel West, Callum Woodhouse and Anna Madeley to discuss Season 3, which premieres in the U.K. in September and on “Masterpiece” on Jan. 8.
“When we launched, we wanted to give each character a real backstory so we could really explore that,” explained Callender. “In [Season 3] in particular, we dug deep and made these characters more complex and full-blooded. There are some wonderful moments for each character.

Masterpiece/PBS and Maven Screen Media are developing a five-part series based on the public and private life of Clementine Churchill, the wife of the late prime minister Winston Churchill, alongside David Thomspon and Sayoko Teitelbaum’s Origin Pictures.
Emmy-nominated “Boardwalk Empire” writer Margaret Nagle will pen the script for the series (working title: “Mrs. Churchill”) and executive produce along with Thompson, Teitelbaum and Maven co-founders Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, as well as Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.
The show centers on the “untold story of a fiercely Independent and very modern heroine who risked everything to save her country and the world from fascism—and her husband from himself.” While several dramatized narratives have focused on Winston’s story, the series aims to highlight Clementine’s achievements.
“Winston has said that the Second World War would have been impossible without Clementine, and yet she has not been given the credit she deserves.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 2 of Sanditon.] Sanditon Season 2 cleared up some of Season 1’s biggest lingering questions, but by the time the six-episode run of its latest chapter had concluded, even more questions were raised. Whether it’s about series heroine Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) or the mystery behind Edward Denham’s (Jack Fox) next move, there’s plenty to wonder about. Below, we’re breaking down some of the questions we’d like to see answered when the show returns for Season 3. Will Charlotte Reunite with Alexander? (Credit: Joss Barratt/PBS Masterpiece) Charlotte’s luck in love continues to remain at a minimum following Season 2’s conclusion which saw her resolved to leave Sanditon after her employer and new love interest Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes) sent her mixed signals. A popular song in the 1960s quipped, “England swings like a pendulum do,” but during that flashy decade of youthful rebellion, there was also a much more sinister movement sweeping the land toward neo-Nazi white-supremacy fascism. PBS’s Masterpiece revisits this uneasy time (with unfortunate echoes of the present) in the tense four-part limited series Ridley Road, featuring the exploits of a most unusual Mata Hari–style spy. We meet Vivien Epstein (an alluringly vulnerable Agnes O’Casey) as a restless young Jewish woman in Manchester, fleeing a dull arranged marriage proposal to follow her dashing boyfriend, Jack (Tom Varey), to London, though he warned her not to. Finding work as a hairdresser in fashionable Soho, this romantic is in for a rude awakening when she discovers that Jack has gone underground as a member of the anti-fascist 62 Group, based in the East End’s Ridley Road and led by her...

UK crime drama The Missing ran for two seasons in 2014 and 2016 on BBC One, where it was a hit by anybody’s standards. The logical next step would have been a third and possibly fourth, fifth and sixth season, but none arrived. Instead, the show’s creators Harry and Jack Williams changed direction and created two seasons of a spin-off starring The Missing’s lead detective Julien Baptiste. With the British thriller now finding new fans internationally on Netflix, many are asking why season three of The Missing was never made.
The reason for the Williams Bros.’ switch to a spin-off was built into the original show’s premise. Seasons one and two of The Missing focused on failures in the long career of Det. Baptiste (Tchéky Karyo). The first was the disappearance of five-year-old Oliver Hughes, an English boy holidaying with his parents in a French town. The second...

Prashanth Neel’s “K.G.F: Chapter 2,” starring Yash, is one of the biggest box office hits this spring, having grossed approximately 120 million worldwide since its April 14 release.
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur for Hombale Films, “K.G.F: Chapter 2” was made on a budget of 13 million and is a sequel to 2018 film “K.G.F: Chapter 1.” Set during the 1970s and 1980s, the film followed the journey of gangster Rocky (Yash) and his bid to gain control of the Kolar Gold Fields. The sequel continues his journey and the stakes are higher with his opponents including the Prime Minister of India. The film is in the Kannada-language with dubbed versions in the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages.
The filmmakers had some idea of what the film could achieve, when the teaser was released in Jan. 2021, and, as the film’s release got postponed due to the pandemic, gathered more than 258 million views.
