- GoofsWhen they are investigating the murder of the vulcanologist, it is stated that sunset is at 7:30pm (actually that appears to be nautical twilight time in Feb. in Guadeloupe; actual sunset is abbot 6:30, but maybe DST?) which is why he needed a torch (flashlight) to go up the mountain to the seismometer at 9pm in the dark. Yet Martha makes a date for dinner at Humprey's at 8:00pm the next day and when she arrives--and he is mostly ready for her, so she can't be that early--they are looking out at the ocean and it is clearly far from sunset.

A solid series opener.
Mount Esme is showing strange activity, scientist Stephen is killed on the night he was on watch, Humphrey suspects one of his fellow scientists.
Series six opens up with a relatively casual affair. On the plus side, it's a visual treat, it's jaw dropping to look at, superb production values, and there are a couple of laughs thrown in courtesy of Dwayne and The Commissioner. Unfortunately the mystery itself lacks intrigue, lacks originality, and ultimately felt a little wishy washy.
Nice to see Sally Bretton back, and Martha's scenes with Humphrey were nice, I loved the scene where he shook her hand, so sweet.
Let's be honest, this episode has one of the show's best lineups, some really impressive names assembled for this one, Douglas Hodge, Natasha Little and Cyril Nri, unfortunately none of them has a meaty part, they're all very good, but none of them was gifted with great material.
It's a good watch, with this cast, and the volcano setting, it should have been awesome, 7/10.
