Would have been better if it was a 90 min movie
samabc-3195212 September 2019
A young boy with polio is abandoned by his own family in a deserted drought stricken village which is in the middle of nowhere... this is a story about his struggles and courage .. it also tries to raise awareness about polio in rural areas around Pakistan-Afghanistan border .. it is a heart-rending true story.. this movie was Pakistan's submission to the 90th Academy Awards.. good background score ... based on a true story .. If it was edited and shortened to a 90 min long at the most then it would probably have become a fine work of Pakistani parallel cinema.

"Saawan fought with obstacles to reach his mother"
oazzykhan19 April 2020
I watched this film, and this is based on a true story, no one can imagine the obstacles that little but charismatic child fought with, he turned every impossible into possible for him. Saawan fought with obstacles to reach his family, Saawan is matchless.

A lot of things to think about...
garyjackster26 September 2019
Watch the movie for the performance of the title character. It was fascinating to see what I would assume is life in a small village in Pakistan. A lot happens that address societal issues in the last part of the movie. This is not a 'feel good' movie however, it exposes issues that I (middle America) would not ordinarily consider and makes you think (not a movie activity I usually do). Things are not so simple but family is universal.

Excellent movie

This is an excellent movie to watch. It will make you cry, but this is the harsh reality of modern day. It tackles so many social issues. The cinematography is beautiful. The child actor is brilliant. It's good to see films like this that show the harsh realities of life and at the same time educate.

Brilliant movie.

Wish there was more information on net about the child actor.

You even feel the dust in the place

An incredible film. A unique, dry and brutal experience. There is a zombie, a cute dog, children, but it is not a children's movie. Despite the events, Saawan doesn't want us to feel sorry for him. He is skilled, smart and very intelligent that we even forget he is crippled. Hollywood couldn't do better.

Loved this movie

Really enjoyed this movie. The kids were absolutely amazing. I would adopt all of them if I could. To the person who gave this movie a 1 star and said it was a anti vaccine propaganda movie should be ashamed.

Spoiled a Good Plot.
informtogaurav28 July 2020
This Movie looks very promising in beginning but as long as it goes through it has weaken its command on script. Direction lost somewhere in between and makes it unnecessarily lengthy. Even though its good try.

THIS MOVIE IS TRUE DEPICTION OF CHIEFTAINCY, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND PROPAGANDA AGAINST POLIO.
amjadbuzdar31 October 2023
This movie has a lot of messages like brutality of chieftaincy in some areas of Baluchistan, southern Punjab, and also some areas of KPK, It is not just about chieftaincy but also domestic violence, superiority of males in the society, propaganda against polio virus and its service providers, lack of healthcare, education, water scarcity, security challenges, terrorism, human trafficking etc it somehow reflects WILLIAM GOLDING'S "LORD OF FLIES" in which we see quarrel between the children about selection of a leader, ghost etc.and the most important thing which i like the most was its ending with Punjabi poetry either writing's of BABA FAREED OR BULLAH SHAH. Low budget but amazing movie.

I throughly enjoyed watching this low budget movie, it pulled on my heart strings, sad in places, bought a few tears to my eyes, if you are soft centred like me have a box of tissues on hand.
