One consistent struggle for Arrow this season has been to balance all of the characters well enough to solidify their position on the show. Perhaps no episode has executed that better tonight. Besides Prometheus himself, everyone important had something to do tonight, and it almost always had good results.
So we finally got some payoff from Susan's incriminating evidence she found on Oliver back in Russia. I believe she received the photos all the way back in the second episode of the season, and here we are in episode 14. Although it didn't take the direction that I thought, watching Thea and Felicity completely eradicate any credibility from her life was bittersweet. She originally came across as another Isabel Rochev-type, but I've grown to like her character even with all of her seemingly conniving motives toward Oliver. It was hard not to feel for her, and Carly Pope really shined in the scene at the Mayor's office.
How many episodes have we had with the police force/entire city against the Green Arrow? Too many to count. And we hardly needed another episode centered around that. However, I wasn't all that bothered by it tonight. Maybe it's because there was so much else going on that it never felt like a significant threat anyway. Now, Oliver Queen's daytime job may be another story entirely. I'm not sure the whole "end of my administration" thing is in the immediate future, but I have a feeling he won't be mayor by the time the season 6 premiere roles around. I also have a feeling Adrian Chase is linked to that "leaked report".
With all that was going on, the so called "Star City Sirens" consisting of Cupid, China White, and Liza Warner were only used sparingly. If it wasn't for the fact that we've already been associated with all of them, then that probably would have bothered me. But we didn't need to see an extended look at any of them. I was perfectly fine with the way they were used. At this point, the real issue is Prometheus' absence. We got a little tease seeing his mother early in the episode and he's certainly pulling some strings behind the scenes, but I'm ready for another full episode with him. It's about time.
Some other things worth noting: Thea & Oliver's brief feud was intriguing and I hardly believe that will be the end of things (good point by Ollie comparing her actions to Moira). The action was exceptional and although it wasn't a James Bamford episode, it sure felt like one. Curtis got a new suit, which is fine, but he needs to stop degrading his ability to fight in the field, it's getting out of hand. Lastly, Juliana Harkavy has done all the right things as Dinah. I loved her scene with Quentin and the fact that she is hesitant to take on the mantle of Black Canary. Let's let her stick around for a while, huh?
