- Quotes
Veronica Lodge: What the hell is a "Sticky Maple"?
Kevin Keller: It's kinda what it sounds like. It's a Riverdale thing.
Veronica Lodge: No, Kevin, it's a slut-shaming thing and I'm neither a slut nor am I going to be shamed by someone named, excuse me, Chuck Clayton! Does he really think he can get away with this? Does he not know who I am? I will cut the brakes on his souped-up phallic symbol.
Betty Cooper: Or we could go to Principal Weatherbee.
Veronica Lodge: About the coach's son who's captain of the football team and Riverdale High's golden boy?
Betty Cooper: And/or I can expose him in the Blue and Gold. Yeah, I can do that.
Veronica Lodge: No! Spoken like a true good girl who always follows the rules.
[pushes boy out of the way, and storms down hallway:]
Veronica Lodge: Well, I don't follow rules. I make them. And when necessary, I break them. You wanna help me get revenge on Chuck, Betty? Awesome! But you better be willing to go full dark, with no stars. What do you say, in or out?

Yes, there is lots going on throughout this that is relevant to the over-arching story but that sort of makes it annoyingly difficult to skip.
This self contained narrative of evil jocks sort of comes from nowhere and doesn't seem to have any real baring on anything we've seen so far.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why it's that big of a deal. They don't give the impression that anything happens that's worse than getting your likeness desecrated and some kiss-and-telling. That's pretty annoying I guess and it's not like I was rooting for the jocks at all but still, I feel insulted that they padded the seasons total runtime so early in the show.
I suppose it was supposed to be a mile stone in Betty and Veronica's relationship. A bonding experience as well as examining how they are merging together which would be a fascinating idea but like so much of this show, feels all wrong against its gimmick of pretending that it's using the Archie Comics characters instead of crude doppelgangers.
That is SO not Jughead.
I suppose they're the characters AFTER they have developed a little beyond their classic form but surely the development FROM that INTO this is the story we should be being told?
Also: why were at least two members of the Josie and the Pussycats replaced? I feel annoyed at this informed attribute that they're supposed to be so brilliant when their music is pretty generic ("Sugar" was a hit from the Archies, not J&Ps) and I don't care for them telling me they had to "claw their way up" and expecting me to just believe them without further evidence.
No way is that why they are named that, don't be insulting.
