This documentary tells the beautiful story of the Des Pallières, a french family that travelled Eurasia by camping car and ended up building an extraordinary orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Through archive footage that the family collected over the years, and the use of modern documentary filmmaking, Xavier De Lauzanne lets us experience the journey of this family from discovering abused children living off of an open dump on the skirts of Phnom Penh, to building the amazing For a Child's Smile center. We discover step after step the depth of the misery that these children live in, and the steps that Christian and Marie France took to build these children back up. We see that all of this was only made possible by their collaboration with french and international donors. The film gives us a lot of the wisdom on how to successfully rescue children who are at the lowest point in their lives.
This film is beautiful and heartbreaking, it gives us an honest story of a simple family moved by compassion. It is truly uplifting to see what they achieved and the unimaginable impact that stoping for one child has had after all these years.
