Freddy vs. Jason: Visual Effects (2004)
*** (out of 4)
Visual effects supervisor Ariel Velasco-Shaw and visual effects producer Kevin Elam are the main focus of this thirty-five minute featurette that takes a look at the various special effects that were done in FREDDY VS. JASON. There are about twelve different scenes discussed here and we get the two men talking about how live action and CGI were mixed to come up with certain effects. One such effect is the scene where Freddy ripped off a woman's nose. Another is the eye-less girl, the caterpillar Freddy and various others. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking here but it's fun getting to hear these two discuss how certain scenes were shot and how they were put together on a computer. I know many horror fans hate CGI but this is a good way to see how the effects are actually done and mixed with live action.
