- New information about the Silver Bells murders creates havoc in the Hawthorne family; Christina can no longer trust Garrett; Alison's mayoral campaign falters; Jack displays disturbing new behavior.
- News that it is Mitchell's DNA that matches that on the belt and thus that he is the Silver Bells Killer (SBK) hits the media. With this fact, the police shut down the investigation believing they now have their man. However, Brady questions one specific aspect of Mitchell being the SBK, which leads to him doing more investigative work and a rare point of cooperation between him and Cutter. A hospitalized Garrett comes clean to the family about what he knows to be the truth regarding his father,...or so he says. Beyond Madeline who also knows the truth, one other person questions Garrett's view of reality. The news effectively shuts down Alison's run for mayor. With that, Tom, who is also affected in that clients are pulling their business, issues Alison an ultimatum: him and the family or Naomi. Feeling the stress from the news, Cam, given the opportunity, may fall off the wagon. Tessa and Brady negotiate the next step in their personal life, which may be threatened by Brady's action against Garrett, all in his prior belief that Garrett was the SBK. What Tessa decides to do is affected by further news she receives. She also agrees to take temporary custody of Jack while Cam deals with his issues. This decision does not sit well with Sophie. Jack's latest bizarre act may be the final straw before Cam or someone in his place makes the decision to get him some definitive professional help.—Huggo
- Cam has another drug-relapse and agrees to residential therapy, leaving Jack in Tessa's care, but the enterprising knave's experiments with the gullible twins frighten her and others enough to convince cam he must go to a therapeutic summer camp, despite Sophie's objections. The only amused sympathizing relative is stab-recovering Garrettt, who shows him a morgue dissection and tells the family he left because he knew about Mitchell's serial kills. The media have a field day announcing Mitchell's DNA fits Silver Bells, especially TV reporter Jennifer Windham targets the Hawthorne family, so voter approval ratings get Allison in the mood to bow out, but indomitable, proxy-ambitious Madeleine cheek-snaps her back into fighter mode. Brady keeps working on old end new evidence, leading to the chilling conclusion Silver bells must have had an accomplice in a getaway car, not his, which is tracked down to a widow who can't tell anything but is killed at home.—KGF Vissers
