“Loudermilk” just got a whole lot louder.
In December 2023 on Amazon Prime Video, the Peter Farrelly comedy starring Ron Livingston (who plays the titular Loudermilk), Will Sasso, and Anja Savcic ranked 828th among all streaming shows, according to Reelgood. Now on Netflix, it’s ninth.
Even “Suits” could get jealous of that bump.
Each month, Reelgood measures what it calls 20 million “viewing decisions” on 25,000 shows across more than 200 streaming platforms. Check out the measurement app’s aptly titled “Rise from Obscurity” line graph for “Loudermilk,” as shared with IndieWire:
Chart courtesy of Reelgood
Before you wave off Reelgood’s methodology, let’s check in with Nielsen, the TV ratings giant.
In its first three weeks on Netflix, “Loudermilk” has made Nielsen’s Top 10 chart for acquired streaming programs each week: eighth twice and 10th once. As an Amazon Prime Video series, “Loudermilk” never charted — and it is safe that say it never came close.

For the first time since the show became exclusive to Peacock, The Office has made the weekly streaming rankings.
The long-running comedy series racked up 602 million minutes of viewing time for the week of Jan. 22-28, good enough for ninth place among library series. It’s the first appearance for The Office — which was a regular entrant in the early days of the Nielsen rankings — since it left Netflix for Peacock at the beginning of 2021.
At the top of the rankings for the week is Griselda, Netflix’s drama about the infamous drug queenpin starring Sofia Vergara. The series had 1.59 billion minutes of watch time over its first four days of release (it premiered Jan. 25). Reacher (741 million minutes) hung on in second place among original series a week after its second season finale on Prime Video, beating out Netflix’s docuseries American Nightmare (676 million).

The week of Jan. 15-21 was a big one for streaming.
Seven titles — three original series, three acquired shows and one movie — each drew more than 1 billion minutes of viewing for the week, the most that have ever hit that mark in the four-year history of Nielsen’s streaming charts. The previous high was six, which has happened four times (including two weeks earlier).
Kids’ favorite Bluey was the overall No. 1, with just over 1.5 billion minutes on Disney+. Reacher (1.23 billion) reclaimed the top spot among original shows from the prior week‘s leader, Fool Me Once, which fell by more than 50 percent to 1.06 billion minutes of watch time. Netflix’s heist movie Lift grew by 19 percent week-to-week, scoring 1.04 billion minutes.
Young Sheldon (1.16 billion minutes), Netflix’s docuseries American Nightmare (1.12 billion) and Grey’s Anatomy (1.09 billion) also hit the billion-minute mark.

What was old was extremely new on Netflix in January and even into this month.
Specifically, the Peter Farrelly-created dramedy series about addiction, Loudermilk, which was barely found in its original run on the now-unplugged AT&T Audience Network, became a must-see show on the streamer six-plus years after its original airing.
In Nielsen’s Top 10 for Streaming Originals (January 8-14), Loudermilk ranked No. 8 with 846 million viewing minutes.
But even before that list was published, Loudermilk was showing signs of life across the streamer’s own Top 10 charts. Loudermilk Season 1 was in the Netflix Top 10 most-viewed shows in the U.S. for four weeks with a peak rank of No. 4 during the week of January 15-21. Season 2 of Loudermilk ranked in the Netflix top 10 stateside during the week of July 28.

The drought is over — or at least, it seems to be ending.
After a slow few months for streaming originals (with the exception of Amazon’s Reacher), several managed to crack Nielsen’s overall Top 10 for the week of January 8 to 14.
The top title this week was Netflix’s Fool Me Once with nearly 2.4B viewing minutes. No surprise there, since the series cracked the streamer’s own most popular list this week. This looks to be the first of many weeks in the Nielsen Top 10 for the show.
Of course, Reacher was still around. This week, the series took No. 3 with just over 1B minutes viewed. With the Season 2 finale approaching in the next measurement period, this seems to be another title that will stick around for a bit.
In its second week on Netflix, The Brothers Sun made it onto the Top 10 at No. 6, raking in 960M minutes viewed across eight episodes.

Netflix’s The Brothers Sun had a solid opening on Nielsen’s streaming charts, but the show took a sizable leap forward in its second week of release.
The series, starring Michelle Yeoh, Sam Song Li and Justin Chien, grew by 38 percent over its debut week to record 960 million minutes of viewing for Jan. 8-14. That was good for third place among original series, behind Fool Me Once (2.4 billion minutes of viewing) — which was also the No. 1 overall title for the second straight week — and Reacher (1.06 billion), which recorded its fifth straight week over the billion-minute mark.
Disney+ and Hulu also saw a good start for Echo, its first binge-released Marvel series and the first Marvel show in the Disney+ era to receive a TV-ma rating. The five-episode show drew 731 million minutes of viewing for the week. That’s above recent premieres for shows like Loki and Secret Invasion, but...

“Echo,” the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest TV show, made its debut on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings in 10th place for the week of Jan. 8-14. The series was watched for 731 million minutes in its first six days of availability on Disney+.
This marks a success for the MCU, as its TV projects typically fail to make Nielsen’s overall Top 10 chart when they first premiere, instead debuting on the streaming originals chart and progressing towards the overall chart over a matter of weeks. For example, Season 2 of “Loki” premiered in October but didn’t appear on the chart until its finale aired in November.
It should be noted, however, that “Echo” had a measurement advantage: All five episodes of the limited series dropped at once, helping to boost its total minutes watched. With a lack of upcoming episodes, “Echo” will likely also fall off the Nielsen charts more quickly than other Marvel shows.

DC’s “The Flash” is set to stream on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max starting Aug. 25.
The first-ever standalone feature film for Barry Allen, which stars Ezra Miller and is directed by Andy Muschetti, follows the titular superhero as he uses his powers to travel back in time to change the events of the past.
But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.
The streaming announcement comes as the film was a commercial disappointment when it hit theaters back in May. It grossed $108 million domestically and just $268 million worldwide.
In addition to Miller, the cast of “The Flash” includes Sasha Calle,...

Hitting theaters on June 16th is the long-awaited film, The Flash.
The film was screened at CinemaCon on Tuesday and below are some of the reactions.
The Flash is hands down one of the best superhero films of all time. No joke, The Flash is the ultimate movie going experience as it has a little bit of everything! Just saw the first ever public screening of The Flash at CinemaCon. It is a dazzling trip thru time as the DC universe indeed flashes before our eyes. Not just a great new addition to DC but a wild and surprising tribute to what came before. A triumph for Ezra and Keatons return.

I’m honestly floored it’s this good.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2021 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 68 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 43 contenders from last year. The last time there were less than 100 entrants of this type was in 2016, when 96 series vied for bids. Since 2017, voters have not had to limit their choices to just 10 shows. The TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Absent from the list below is reigning Best Comedy Series winner “Schitt’s Creek,” which ended its six-season run last April. Only one of its seven rivals in that race — “The Kominsky Method” — aired episodes during the eligibility period of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The other six nominees from last year do not appear on this year’s ballot, with “The Good Place” having signed off in January 2020 after four seasons.

And just like that – here comes spring. Amazon Prime‘s list of new releases for April 2021 isn’t as cheery as one would expect from the sunny season. But perhaps that’s by design – you should be outside anyway!
Amazon’s most prominent original series for April 2021 is undoubtedly Them from multi-hyphenate Lena Waithe. This horror anthology’s first season, subtitled “Covenant”, will center on a Black family in the 1950s who move from North Carolina to a white neighborhood in Los Angeles. It premieres on April 9. Given its name and premise, Them is drawing some (largely joke-y) comparisons to Jordan Peele’s Us on social media. But hey, the world could always use some more Us.

Ron Livingston has been cast in “The Flash” and will portray the eponymous superhero’s father, Henry Allen.
He replaces Billy Crudup, who recently departed the role because of scheduling conflicts for the Apple TV Plus drama “The Morning Show.” Production for “The Flash” had been postponed due to the pandemic and is expected to begin sometime this year.
Ian Loh is also joining the cast as young Barry Allen. “Derry Girls” star Saoirse-Monica Jackson and internet personality Rudy Mancuso are rounding out the call sheet in undisclosed roles.
“The Flash” stars Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster known as Barry Allen. One of the most frustrating parts of the Peak TV era came at the expense of great TV series.
It was like the gold rush, and there was gold in them thar hills, but when that golden content aired on startup networks with limited audiences, the shows suffered as a result.
Well, the good news is that with large streaming services become all the rage, some of the best content you've never seen is coming to the small screen near you.
We can add Loudermilk, an unlikely comedy about struggling alcoholics, to that ever-growing list. And once you watch, you'll be screaming Hallelujah right along with me.
First airing on AT&T's Audience Network in 2016 and 2017, which was reserved for those with AT&T cable, streaming, or DirecTV, Loudermilk comes from creators Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort.
The series was renewed for a third season in 2018, and that completed season...

“Loudermilk” will get its second wind at Amazon
After temporarily losing its home on AT&T’s now-defunct Audience Network, Sony Pictures Television has announced that Season 1 and Season 2 of the Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort co-created comedy will premiere on Amazon’s SVOD service Friday, March 12. Additionally, a premiere date for the Ron Livingston-starring series’ third season will be determined and unveiled soon. Farrelly (“Dumb and Dumber”) and Mort (“The Colbert Report”) return to write and executive produce.
“I could not be more pleased that ‘Loudermilk’ is finding a second life on Prime Video,” Farrelly commented in a statement. “It’s a show that I’m extremely proud of and one that deserves to be seen by all. I would argue that it has the best ensemble cast on television and deserves to be in the conversation with ‘Schitt’s Creek’ and ‘Cobra Kai,’ shows that started on one network...

Those two seasons will become available on Amazon’s Prime Video platform on Friday.
“Loudermilk” was renewed for Season 3 before AT&T shuttered Audience last year. The third season, which does not yet have a U.S. premiere date, has already streamed on Prime Video in Canada.

“Condor,” which originally aired on AT&T’s Audience Network, will move to Epix for its second season.
The thriller series is based on the novel “Six Days of the Condor.” The first season will air on Epix in March, with Season 2 coming later in 2021.
In January, WarnerMedia shuttered AT&T Audience Network, which was home to series including “Loudermilk” and “Mr. Mercedes,” and instead turned it into a promotional network for HBO Max. Peacock picked up the first two seasons of “Mr. Mercedes” earlier this year, but has no plans to continue the the Stephen King-inspired series.
WarnerMedia made a similar move with Cinemax and turned that into a movie-centric network.
Here’s the logline for “Condor”: Joe Turner (Max Irons) has always been conflicted about his work for the CIA. But when something he’s discovered gets his entire office killed, leaving Joe as the only survivor...

In January, AT&T announced that DirecTV’s Audience Network was shutting down, transforming itself into an HBO Max Preview Channel. While not surprising, the move threw in limbo three original series on the channel: comedy Loudermilk and dramas Condor and Mr. Mercedes.
While David E. Kelley’s Mr. Mercedes had just wrapped its Season 3 run on Audience, with its future beyond that in serious doubt, Loudermilk and Condor both had completed new seasons in the can that had not yet been scheduled by the network. As Audience ceased to exist n May 22, the rights to its original series were handed back to their producers.
The three existing seasons of Mr. Mercedes were recently acquired by NBCUniversal’s Peacock, while Netflix picked up another Audience drama, Kingdom, which aired on the network from 2014-2017.
Skydance has been shopping thriller Condor, starring Max Irons and William Hurt, which I hear remains in...
