“We all float down here,” says the voice of little Georgie from this year’s acclaimed reimagining of Stephen King’s “It” as the camera swims through the underwater world of “The Shape of Water.” It’s clever edit of audio and video that remind us what a year it has been at the movies.

2017 was all about politics, scandal and a royal proposal -- at least, according to Google.
The tech company released their end-of-year search data on Wednesday, revealing some unsurprising trends in their most-searched celebs. They also tracked the year in pop culture with the biggest movies, TV, music and more.
Despite a fairly-recent scandal, newly-fired Todayshow host Matt Lauer found himself atop the list of most-searched people. The news anchor was ousted from his long-tenured position at NBC following allegations of sexual misconduct and "inappropriate workplace behavior."
Scandal also landed celebs like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Kathy Griffin in the top 10. Perhaps the only two non-controversial entries were Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and actress Meghan Markle.
Markle, who also landed at the No. 1 spot on the most-searched actors list, is, of course, in the news for her recent engagement to Prince Harry. The royal pair confirmed their plans to wed in late November, with reported plans for...

Though news of Matt Lauer's shocking firing from the Today show last Wednesday over "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace" rocked the nation, it's not the first time the NBC morning show has caused plenty of controversy.
From Lauer's testy interviews with Tom Cruise and Kanye West, to cringe-worthy on-air gaffes, let's take a look back at the show's nine most memorable scandals.
2005: Tom Cruise gets into heated debate with Lauer over antidepressants.
Tom Cruise appeared on the Today show in June of 2005 to promote War of the Worlds, but the interview quickly went south when the topic changed to Cruise's Scientologist beliefs. Lauer questioned Cruise about slamming Brooke Shields for promoting medication to deal with postpartum depression, prompting the actor to infamously call the Today show co-anchor "glib."
“The thing that I’m saying about Brooke is that there’s misinformation, Ok?" Cruise said. "And she doesn’t understand the history of psychiatry. She doesn’t...

Before the bombshell allegations of sexual misconduct that led to Matt Lauer's firing from the Today show by NBC, he and former co-host Savannah Guthrie had grown close professionally in their five years of working together.
The 45-year-old morning show host, who made the announcement of Lauer's termination on-air last Wednesday, was "affected the most" by the news, a source told Et last week.
"She’s not herself. She’s visibly shaken," the source added, explaining that around the studio on Thursday morning, Guthrie appeared "sad, in deep thought and preoccupied" off-camera. "She is doing her best to stay upbeat and jolly on-air."
Guthrie and Lauer had shared the desk since July 9, 2012, when she took over for Ann Curry. Since then, the two, along with Al Roker, also hosted both the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting ceremony.

Matt Lauer and wife Annette Roque were spending time apart even before the former Today show host was fired for "inappropriate sexual behavior" last Wednesday, a source tells Et.
“Matt and Annette lived separately, with Matt spending many nights in his Manhattan apartment," the source says.
According to the source, the two have a home in the Hamptons, and it is believed that Lauer has been been living there since his shocking firing.
Et has reached out to Roque's rep for comment.
Lauer was snapped on Monday morning in New York, still wearing his wedding ring.

Meanwhile, a source at NBC says staff members are still shocked at Lauer's firing. A lot of the staff knew that Lauer had "a wandering eye," the source claims, but "no one ever thought he was a predator."
Lauer and Roque have been married since 1998 and share three children together. The two were last seen publicly with each other in...

In the guise of a saccharine-sweet, Katy Perry-esque music video, Saturday Night Livecastmembers Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon and host Saoirse Ronan had a message for all the men in America who are just now realizing the ever-present, relentless horror and reality of sexual harassment and assault that women have been facing in our country for, well, ever.
Rocking pastel and neon outfits, the women performed a mind-blowing and darkly ironic song about the realities of sexual harassment, set to a disconcertingly upbeat synth-pop track.
"All these big, cool, powerful guys are turning out to be, what’s the word? Habitual predators?" Bryant sing-talks. "And it's like, dang, is this the world now?"
"Well here's a little secret that every girl knows," Ronan chimes in.
"This been the damn world," Strong says, kicking off the pop-track.

In the wake of Matt Lauer's firing from the Today show after being accused of "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace," it remains unclear where things stand with his longtime wife, Annette Roque.
The former morning show host married the Dutch-born model in 1998 in Bridgehampton, New York, and the couple has often put up a united front in public, despite facing years of tabloid rumors of Lauer allegedly having affairs.
"I go home and live my life and with my family and, you know, smile when I read some stuff and laugh," Lauer said at the Unicef Snowflake Ball in 2005, with Annette adding, "And cry."
"As long as my kids and our family and our friends know the real story, that's all we care about," Lauer noted.

The two were last seen publicly with each other in September, heading to lunch in New York City.
