- [first lines]
- Nurse: [entering his hospital room] Good morning, John. How you feeling this morning? Do you remember me from last night?
- John Rayburn: No, I don't.
- Nurse: That's okay. It's to be expected.
- John Rayburn: [noticing her name tag] "Quinlan."
- Nurse: Mm-hm.
- [shining her flashlight into his eyes]
- Nurse: Look up. Go left. Good.
- John Rayburn: Where are my clothes?
- Nurse: Your memory will come back when you're ready. Go right. Good. Best thing for you right now is to get some rest.
- John Rayburn: I wasn't wearing clothes, was I?
- Sheriff Aguirre: [to John] Seatbelts. The thing is if you're in a car and the car's going 65 miles an hour, you don't feel it. You feel like you're sitting at home watching TV. Until the car hits something. Then you realize the hard way that you were going 65 miles an hour, too. Wakes you up real quick to the truth of the physics when your head goes through that windshield. Seatbelts. The thing is, John you've been going 100 miles an hour ever since Danny died.
- [last lines]
- Sally Rayburn: [calling from the other room] John? Come and eat.
- John Rayburn: Yeah...
- Danny Rayburn: [standing outside the back door] You're not done yet, John.
- Sally Rayburn: [again from the other room] John?
- Danny Rayburn: [grinning] We're not done.
