Tom Selleck is not happy that CBS announced it is canceling Blue Bloods. However, he has had some big things to say about the news as he talks about as possible return. The actor feels that there is more life in the series, and he points out the fan support as a reason why CBS is not being “sensible.”
Here is what Selleck had to say about his show’s future and what he feels should happen next.
Tom Selleck Wants Blue Bloods To Return For Another Season
Blue Bloods has been on CBS for 14 seasons. It started its run in 2010 and has been part of many television viewers’ lives for well over a decade. However, CBS announced that it was ending the series with the fourteenth season, which consisted of only 18 episodes. The first 10 ends on May 17 and the final eight will air on CBS from October 2024 to December 2024.

S.W.A.T. is finally coming to an end with a seventh season. This was great news for fans and lead actor Shemar Moore, who fought for the show’s survival. While CBS canceled it after Season 6, a pushback caused the network to allow it to return for Season 7 so the series could wrap up its stories.
However, does this mean that some former actors who left the series like Kenny Johnson and Alex Russell could return? Here is what Shemar Moore had to say.
Could Kenny Johnson Return In The Final S.W.A.T. Season?
When CBS canceled S.W.A.T., Shemar Moore spoke up loudly supporting the series continuing for one more season. However, when the series was headed for its end in Season 6, one of the most important team members fell in battle and ended up forced into retirement.

While procedurals like Blue Bloods or S.W.A.T. have been one of the top highlights of the week on CBS for years, and NBC has had all sorts of projects within the One Chicago and Law & Order franchises, the procedural drama 9-1-1 was one of the most-watched shows on Fox from 2018 to 2023.
The show then moved to ABC (which is also owned by Disney) starting in March 2024, and for nearly two months now, 9-1-1 has been posting very impressive ratings in its new home, which secured the show's renewal for a new eighth season in early April.
The fact that the show is generating so much traction is not just because its creators are television colossi Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear. It's a fascinating drama that has viewers rooting for Los Angeles first responders as they navigate their personal and professional lives no less than the other aforementioned shows.

Shemar Moore was celebrating the renewal of S.W.A.T in a big way last night at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration in Hollywood.
Moore has portrayed series lead Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson across the show’s 7 seasons and serves as a producer. S.W.A.T is a procedural drama that follows Hondo, a Los Angeles S.W.A.T. Sargent who balances loyalty to the job and the streets where he grew up. The show airs new episodes Friday at 8 p.m.
Following 6 seasons, CBS announced in 2023 that the series was canceled before the network reversed its decision opting to renew the show for a seventh and final season which premiered earlier this year. Following an impassioned campaign led by Moore and the drama’s devoted fans, CBS uncanceled the show once more announcing last month they’d ordered an eighth season.

Fans were shocked to hear that “NCIS: Hawai’i,” the newest series in CBS’ “NCIS” franchise, had been canceled after three seasons last week. At a press briefing in Los Angeles, CBS executives said the decision came down to a balance of cost and ratings, as well as cohesion across the network’s 2024-2025 schedule.
“It is incumbent on us to always keep the schedule fresh, keep momentum going. When asked whether there was a chance of un-cancellation, as happened when CBS reversed its decision to end “S.W.A.T.” on two separate occasions, Reisenbach said no.

CBS announced not only its fall schedule, but a full lineup for the 2024-2025 broadcast season at a Los Angeles press briefing on Thursday.
As “Young Sheldon” is currently wrapping up its final season on Thursdays at 8 p.m., a headline of the slate is spinoff series “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” taking over that spot, leading into “Ghosts” at 8:30 p.m. Additionally, “Tracker” — not only the No. 1 new series of the 2023-2024 season, but the most-watched series overall — is getting an earlier position, moving from Sundays at 9 p.m. to 8 p.m.

At the unveiling of the schedule, George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS, said that they have contingency plans should a work stoppage occur but wouldn’t elaborate further. “If we need to delay, we are ready,” he said.

CBS is taking a page out of Netflix’s playbook by announcing its programming success in the billions of minutes watched.
If you were wondering what that might mean to a broadcast network, it measures out to 456 billion minutes of CBS programming watched in the first four months of 2024.
With two new hits on its hands — Tracker and Elsbeth — this doesn’t surprise us in the least.
Here’s the real measure of their success, though.
Viewers delivered over 30% more time spent in front of CBS programming than Netflix and over 231% more than all other streamers combined.
No wonder they’re patting themselves on the back.
Those are incredible numbers that often go unnoticed when you use traditional ratings tools to deliver the news.
Even crazier, the time spent watching CBS programming has increased by 5.8% over the same period in 2023.
People often wonder how shows can be considered a success...

Exclusive: Matt Lanter (Jupiter’s Legacy) and newcomer Sophia Esperanza have joined Prime Video’s Motorheads cast in recurring roles, Deadline has learned exclusively.
From writer-showrunner John A. Norris, Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your very first car. Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is the adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles. And while some characters will be navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school, others will be racing from a dark past.
The series also includes previously announced stars Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Uriah Shelton, Drake Rodger, Johnna Dias-Watson, Josh Macqueen and Mia Healey.
Lanter will portray Darren, a wealthy and powerful father of 17-year-old Harris (Macqueen), who, like his dad, is a serious street racer.

CBS has been reeling fans in with dramas for over 50 years now, and it doesn't look like the network has any plans to stop.
The network really has something for everybody in its repertoire, whether you're looking for someone quirky and spooky like The Twilight Zone or want a procedural with dramatic flair like NCIS.
There are decades of dramas to be accounted for, but we're going to focus on some of the more recent dramas on CBS.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch CBS classics like Murder, She Wrote, Gunsmoke, Dallas, The Twlight Zone, and more.
When you're not catching up on older CBS classics, here's what we recommend watching for a more modern setting.

It's been nearly six months since the end of the unprecedented 2023 Hollywood labour disputes, which sent shockwaves through the entire entertainment industry with the suspension or cancellation of many popular and not-so-popular movies and TV series. Even now, however, the film and television industries do not seem to have fully recovered, as evidenced by distorted TV schedules, the shortening or bisection of new seasons of scripted shows, and sudden cancellations and renewals.
The case of CBS is particularly telling. While the network's flagship series such as Blue Bloods and Young Sheldon are in their final seasons, other projects are being actively renewed. Recently, CBS reversed its decision to cancel S.W.A.T. due to high ratings and picked up the police procedural for another season. The Good Wife spin-off Elsbeth has also been renewed for a second season.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for S.W.A.T. Season 7 Episode 10 “Snafu.”] Deacon (Jay Harrington) can’t really be retiring … can he? Well, the latest S.W.A.T. episode certainly seems to reveal if that’s the case. He begins the episode offering tips to potential future S.W.A.T. officers at the shooting range. He has Tan (David Lim) meet him there—to reveal he wants him to take over S.W.A.T. Academy for him. “I’m honored. It means a lot,” Tan says, “but I’m going to need some time to mull it over, if that’s okay.” Deacon knows it’s a big commitment, “but believe me, you’re the right man for the job.” But when Deacon checks in with Tan a bit later, the other man tells him, “I’m going to have to pass, man, I can’t do it” and explains, “Look, you know better than ...

Another NCIS spinoff is coming to an end. CBS has canceled NCIS: Hawai’i after three seasons. The two-part series finale will air on April 29 and May 6. And given what series star Alex Tarrant (who plays Kai) previously told TV Insider, it sounds like fans are going to be left hanging. “There is definitely a special twist that comes in towards the end. It was a shock to me when I was reading the scripts, that’s for sure,” he said, adding that the finale “most definitely … ends on a cliffhanger.” NCIS: Hawai’i was the last current CBS show whose fate had yet to be decided. The network has renewed Tracker, The Neighborhood, NCIS, FBI (for three seasons), FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, Ghosts, Fire Country, NCIS: Sydney, S.W.A.T. (after it was previously supposed to be ending with the current seventh season), Elsbeth, and The Equalizer for the 2024-2025 season.

It came down to the wire, but NCIS: Hawai’i ultimately didn’t make the cut for next season at CBS. The news comes days before the network is set to announce its fall schedule on May 2 and before the Season 3 finale of Hawai’i is scheduled to air on May 6. According to sources, the episode was not meant to be a series finale and includes a tease for what was to come but fans won’t be left reeling by a major cliffhanger.
The cancellation is not a complete shocker since, as Deadline has been reporting, NCIS: Hawai’i was on the bubble. Still, the outcome is surprising since an effort was made to extend the well performing drama’s run for at least an abbreviated fourth and final season, with producers agreeing to a massive budget cut and open to other concessions in order to keep the show going.

On April 11, CBS saved S.W.A.T. from cancellation, for the second time no less.
This reprieve came after three characters had already been written out this season. And additional exits may be coming, as it was hinted that Commander Hicks might be departing to take care of his ailing lover on S.W.A.T. Season 7 Episode 9.
So, who exactly will be in the 20 Squad returning for S.W.A.T. Season 8? Hondo, Powell, the new guy who replaced Street, and who else?
Ah, well, that's a problem for the series' showrunner and writers this summer. At least salaries for lesser-known actors should be less of a bite on the budget.
One side effect of this surprise rescue of S.W.A.T. is that Blue Bloods fans want their show, now in its 14th and supposedly final season, saved as well.
First off, let's remember it's a bad time to be a scripted network series. Just ask fans of Station 19, The Good Doctor,...

CBS has picked up a fifth season of drama The Equalizer, starring and executive produced by Queen Latifah, for 2024-25.
As Deadline reported last week, the renewal was fully expected, with the delay related to lead studio Universal Television negotiating a deal with Queen Latifah. It recently closed, paving the way to a renewal.
So far, The Equalizer‘s seasons had been capped at 18 episodes, which is something top talent often request when signing on for a broadcast drama series. There was an effort in the Queen Latifah negotiation to increase the number to 20 or more but I hear Season 5 will again consist of 18 episodes.
After Elsbeth renewed and So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas canceled last week, NCIS: Hawai’i remains the only CBS scripted series in limbo.

As Deadline reported last week, Hawai’i’s future is said to be the subject of tough business conversations, with a partial Season 4 of 13 or fewer episodes still a possibility. It could be a final chapter for the show, the first installment in the NCIS franchise with a female lead.
The Equalizer has been a strong performer for CBS, currently ranking as the #8 most watched among all non-sports broadcast programs, averaging 7.89M linear viewers (in Nielsen most current data) and over 10 million viewers in Live+35 multi-platform viewership. It also is the #1 entertainment program among African Americans.

“The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season.”
Co-produced by CBS Studios, The Equalizer is one of four drama series Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, makes for CBS, along with the three FBIs, all of which were also recently renewed, the flagship for three seasons.
A reimagining of the classic series, The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn.
Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira and Laya DeLeon Hayes also star. Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller, co-showrunners Joseph C. Wilson and Adam Glass, Dana Owens (Queen Latifah), John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Richard Lindheim (co-creator of the original series), Shakim Compere, Joseph C. Wilson and Loretha Jones are executive producers. The Equalizer airs on CBS and is available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Recently, CBS viewers were faced with an update that was, depending on the context, either incredibly disappointing or incredibly uplifting. In early April 2024, it was announced that the network had decided to reverse its decision to end S.W.A.T., starring Shemar Moore, after seven seasons. Instead, there will be at least one more season of the police procedural. So why is the update disappointing, you ask?
Well, at the very least, because despite its popularity, Blue Bloods, unlike S.W.A.T., has not been renewed and is therefore slowly coming to an end.
For nearly 14 years, Blue Bloods has been a staple of Friday night entertainment for many American households. However, the news that the iconic cop drama about the Reagan family will soon be cancelled is also disheartening because the writers may not be able to keep up with such a tight deadline to provide each character and storyline with a proper ending.

Paramount has rebooted Criminal Minds, and starting in November 2022, we were once again immersed in the story of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) agents as they grappled with criminal minds and personal lives. Now, the story has taken an even darker turn, it has been released in a streaming format rather than the traditional TV broadcast one, and the show itself has been subtitled as Evolution. And before we knew it, a new season was already in production (the second season of Evolution and the seventeenth since Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005).
While fans wait in anticipation, the upcoming Season 17 has already had its fair share of details and speculation. Josh Stewart, who has played Will Lamontagne Jr. since Season 2, will be leaving the show, while many are sure that everyone's favorite Spencer Reid will be back, as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule has finally been cleared, and the...

Fans desperately want to know if NCIS: Hawai’i will be canceled or renewed for a fourth season.
As of the writing of this article, CBS has not announced the future of the NCIS spin-off.
The network might not be as sure of the Monday night drama as it once was.
One of the issues that CBS faces is the number of successful dramas that have already been renewed for Fall 2024.
The success of Elsbeth, Tracker, and Fire Country has taken up three hours of primetime slots. And CBS recently renewed S.W.A.T. as well.
In some unfortunate news for television viewers, CBS has also canceled So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas.

Only three new episodes remain on the NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 schedule.
It’s a shorter season than usual, meaning the summer hiatus also arrives soon.
Questions still exist about whether or not CBS will renew the NCIS spin-off.
When this article was published, the network had not renewed or canceled the hit drama.
And it is still a hit show, with NCIS: Hawai’i ranking 12th in linear viewership among all broadcast non-sports shows. That’s impressive.
But will CBS have room for NCIS: Hawai’i on the schedule after ordering NCIS: Origins and renewing Tracker, Elsbeth, and S.W.A.T. already? Stay tuned.

“We won this fight,” Shemar Moore, star and executive producer of S.W.A.T., says after the CBS drama’s second uncancellation. And no one is happier than he is that the show is returning for Season 8, as you can see in the video above. In May 2023, a couple of weeks before the Season 6 finale, CBS announced that the show would not be returning. “We kind of got blindsided,” Moore tells TV Insider. He was “numb, confused, a little bit pissed off, a little bit frustrated,” and that led to him the video calling it a mistake, which he carefully considered before posting. “I watched it 12 times before I pushed send,” he says. “I’m not just making that number up; it’s a seven-minute video, so you do the math. I watched it to say, ‘Is this the right thing to do? Can I get in trouble? Am I going to get blacklisted?...
