The first of the month is always a big day for streaming services, as that’s when the bulk of their new content for that month tends to hit, with the rest being dished out in small batches over the following weeks. That’s especially true for Netflix, who kicked off June with a massive helping of fresh movies and TV shows on the 1st, and followed it up with a handful of new releases in the days after.
In fact, there were a whopping total of 64 new films and 18 new TV series that arrived on the streaming site this week, and the full list can be found down below:
64 New Movies Added This Week

Another month is now about to come to an end and that means we can all look forward to tons of fresh content coming to Netflix. Indeed, this week alone will see over 30 new movies added to the platform, many of which are big, notable titles.
But that doesn’t mean today is devoid of new material and to close out the month, the streaming site has brought us two new films to check out. Neither are terribly high profile, mind you, but at least one of them is worth a watch for horror fans, as it’s an underrated entry into the genre that may’ve passed you by when it first released.
See below for the full list of what arrived today, May 31st:
High Strung Free Dance (2018) Session 9 (2001)

Although we know that Netflix already have a bumper collection of content planned for June, the streaming giant are also using the final week of May to put out a lot of new series and movies.
After a weekend where an Adam Sandler film has, not for the first time, pulled in big audiences for the platform, the streamer’s giving us a chance to appreciate one of the actor’s more serious roles by releasing Uncut Gems. Other highlights coming up between May 24th and May 31st, meanwhile, include a new Jeffrey Epstein limited series and the debut of Space Force.
On the movie side, the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems arrives on Monday, May 25th, and is highly recommended for anyone that hasn’t yet a had a chance to take in the deep dive into pawnshops and bets gone wrong. Other film highlights include the Matthew McConaughey-starring The Lincoln Lawyer,...

You’re probably stuck inside right now during the pandemic and pining for the days when you had a social life. Thankfully, Netflix is coming to the rescue in May with a really exciting lineup of hit movies and new shows.
It’ll be a great month for films, specifically. The incredibly popular 80s time-traveling pics Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II will be joining the already-included third entry in the franchise, while those seeking some good laughs can check out the Jim Carrey-led comedies Fun with Dick and Jane and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
Meanwhile, multiple entries in the Underworld series are dropping on the service for action-horror fans, whereas kids will be happy to hear that both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory will be available right out of the gate.

While I didn’t find Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” (Lionsgate/Mrc) as wonderful a whodunit as most audiences (and critics), I do cheer his evident love for the genre and his energy and enthusiasm in revitalizing the all-star murder mystery. (Give me a crisp new story like this over a thousand sludgy remakes like the recent “Murder on the Orient Express.”) And it’s a win for everyone when an original movie — not a sequel, not a remake, not a reboot, not an adaptation — becomes a much-talked-about hit. So let’s hear it for more fresh takes on beloved movie tropes.
Also available: Keep your indies straight — “The Wave” (Echo Wolf/Epic) features Justin Long on a psychedelic trip, while the critically acclaimed “Waves” (Lionsgate) is a powerful tale of race and family featuring powerhouse acting from Sterling K. Brown, Taylor Russell and Kelvin Harrison, Jr.; the...

‘High Strung Free Dance’ Film Review: Toe-Tapping Dance Saga Shimmies Between Sublime and Ridiculous
There are two kinds of people in this crazy, mixed-up world of ours: The people who love the dance movie “High Strung” and the people who are only just now hearing about it for the first time.
It’s a bizarre, bright and unabashedly sincere modern cult classic about a dance student who teams up with a rebellious violinist to rock New York City at the intersection where popping, locking and string instrumentation collide. Find another movie where an impromptu fiddle feud breaks out in the midst of a snooty party, where all the working-class servers suddenly break out into a perfectly choreographed routine that culminates in an awkward flying kick into a platter full of champagne flutes. You’ll be looking for a long, long time, mark my words.
So needless to say, the bar was set very high for the new sequel, “High Strung Free Dance.” The follow-up...

"All I need is a shot!" Gvn Releasing has debuted an official trailer for an indie romantic drama titled High Strung Free Dance, a sequel of sorts to the dance romance movie High Strung from 2016. This time the romance is between a talented pianist and an up-and-coming dancer - in that other movie it was between a violinist and a ballerina. In Free Dance, Zander Raines, a dazzling and tempestuous young choreographer unwittingly ignites a romantic rivalry with his pianist, Charlie, when he embraces a stunning contemporary dancer, Barlow, as his muse for his innovative new Broadway show: Free Dance. The cast includes Thomas Doherty, Harry Jarvis, Juliet Doherty, Jane Seymour, Ace Bhatty, plus Desmond Richardson. This is so cheesy and extravagant and all showbiz, which might be just what excites a few of you. Dance on. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Damian's High Strung Free Dance,...
