- TriviaThe title of this episode comes from the proverbial expression, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." It is a proverbial expression that dates from the early 19th century, although versions of it existed well before then. An expanded paraphrase by Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900): "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness." [02.17.2020]
- Quotes
Mira: [gruffly] You're not some stupid little girl who gets to make friends boyfriends and hopes and dreams. You are a soldier. If that makes you angry, think of who took it from you and focus on that.
Young Clare: [grimaces but doesn't cry]
Mira: Congratulations.
Young Clare: For what?
Mira: You're truly suffering now. It's beautiful. It means you're growing.

How and Why
Focusing on Clare, we see how the venom developed by the Prime universe came to be. Did the original universe actually cause the epidemic with malice aforethought, or was it happenstance? And the creating of a little girl for the purposes of revenge and destruction seemed to be more the actions of a few than a culture set on destroying another world. We still need to know these things. But Clare's infiltration was utterly captivating.
