I Get Physical
bobcobb30127 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There are two amazing powerhouses in Harlem so why does it seem like only that community cares? Luke Cage had his workout in a previous episode, but with him and Bushman running things you would think the FBI might follow them around and look into it.

When will we get a big clash between them? They gave us a fight too early so I am not sure what the climactic moment for Season 2 will be.

Masterclass in TV

Mercifully free of gore and punch-ups but the plot threads advance in countless ways. Who would have thought that an episode without Rosario Dawson could still be so good?

As with all the musical acts in Luke Cage, Kingfish fits the mood of this episode perfectly and his audaciously extended version of 'The Thrill Is Gone' is used to soundtrack several character arcs being nudged forward without tedious exposition.

What a shame that a third series was never made and doesn't seem to be likely even now despite Daredevil popping up in the latest Spiderman film.

A little more entertaining but overall uneventful

The opening scene was terribly flat and awkward. The music was badly chosen and for what should have been a dramatic moment, had little impact.

It would have done better as a surprise ending for episode 3.

But with that out of the way I must say I preferred the writing and directing in this episode. Everything felt a little more charamatic and dynamic. However it wasn't enough to carry the plot.

I finish this episode thinking how nothing much happened and again Luke seems to be sidelined at the moment. I don't have a problem with side characters and plot lines, but there are so many that it barely feels like a show about Luke Cage.

Misty and Luke are quite fun to watch together so I hope we see more of that, (although I'm beginning to think that Simone Missick/Misty is just very capable of carrying a scene).

There was an extremely long and tedious on-screen performance yet again. The first season got praised for its music but they're just overdoing it now.

There are quite a few long scenes where nothing seems to happen. Even if the scene itself is fine, I can't help but wonder afterward how it affected the plot in anyway.

Overall, even though the plot was a bit flat, the writer and director managed to make it watchable, but not all that entertaining

Average again

Another average episode. The viral stuff seems rather wishy washy and weak writing. Character melodrama and little else, and by this point you're getting a little restless.
