Syfy has finalized its summer plans. Three days after announcing a June 15 premiere for the final season of 12 Monkeys, the NBCUniversal cable net has slated dates for the new seasons of its genre dramas Wynonna Earp and Killjoys along with the last Sharknado movie.
Season 3 of Wynonna Earp, starring Melanie Scrofano, will launch at 9 Pm Friday, July 20, followed at 10 by the launch of space opera Killjoys’ fourth season. The postapocalptic/time-traveling Sharknado 6 will attack at 8 Pm Sunday, August 19. The cheeky and toothy franchise-ender will cap the net’s Sharknado Week (August 12-19), which also will include such swimmer bait as Deep Blue Sea 2, Nightmare Shark and 6-Headed Shark Attack.
Here are details of Syfy’s summer fare:

The musical “The Greatest Showman,” from 20th Century Fox, and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” from Walt Disney Studios, repeated as the No. 1 and No. 2 titles, respectively, on the national home video sales charts the week ended April 21.
Two newcomers took the next two spots on both the Npd VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.
Lionsgate’s “The Commuter,” an action-thriller with Liam Neeson confronting a conspiracy on a New York passenger train, took the third spot after a $36.3 million box office run in U.S. theaters.
At No. 4 was Fox’s “The Post,” a Steven Spielberg-directed docu-drama about the dilemmas facing The Washington Post newspaper around the time of the publication of the controversial Pentagon Papers in the 1970s. Starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, the film earned $81.9 million at the domestic box office.

As Renny Harlin’s Deep Blue Sea continues to be eulogized as B-grade, feeding-frenzy excellence (now and forever), Darin Scott’s Deep Blue Sea 2 will be forgotten, ignored and seen only as malodorous sequel chum. How *dare* drug-doped supersharks be associated with such a nonsensically rudderless dive, as submerged survival “fun” is drained well before the dam breaks wide open. Restrained budgets are one thing, but a three-person writing team’s concocted solution around big-budget finback effects is a middle-finger to Harlin’s masterful underwater massacre (in comparison). Hell, even Shark Night 3D looks infallible next to this Open Water 3: Cage Dive of a franchise torpedo.
You know what – apologies. We’re going full-on spoilers for the rest of this review. Read at your own risk. Frustration is bubbling over at an aggressive rate that needs to be addresses through cathartic ranting. You’ve been warned, those who want a fresh (water) experience.

Though it risks being overshadowed quite spectacularly by The Meg and its own ginormous fish, Deep Blue Sea 2 is now on the verge of hitting Blu-ray and DVD, and the folks over at Bloody Disgusting has uncovered a brand new clip to prove it.
Placing a particular focus on the new characters headlining Darin Scott’s long-in-development horror sequel, up above you’ll see the moment when tensions rise between Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) and pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach), who evidently has more money than sense – much to the horror of Savre’s protagonist.
She soon discovers that Durant and his team are experimenting on bull sharks, a species of fish known for their aggression and killer instinct…and that’s before the humans even begin their tests. As far as shark movies go, this is a pretty familiar calm before the inevitable storm. But with...

Cast your mind back to the year 1999, long before talk of the McU and Warner Bros.’ fledging DC Extended Universe, and you’ll likely recall a host of instant cinematic classics in the vein of The Matrix, Fight Club, and The Blair Witch Project.
But there’s another gem buried beneath the pile, and we’re not referring to Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Instead, we’ll direct your attention to Deep Blue Sea, Renny Harlin’s oceanic thriller that ramped up the stakes by introducing a herd of sharks whose instincts, speed, strength, and size had been dramatically amplified in the name of bio-engineering. Yeah, we’re not sure whose idea it was, either…
Nevertheless, almost two decades later and we’re now on the verge of Deep Blue Sea 2, which promises the same edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, albeit with added bite. It’s coming sooner than you think (April 17th), too,...

While the seasons may be changing for the better, there are still plenty of reasons to stay home this April, as there are numerous genre films hitting VOD and digital platforms that are well worth your time. IFC Midnight has a trifecta of cinematic treats planned this month, with Lowlife arriving on April 6th, Wildling coming out on the 13th, and Ghost Stories making its digital debut in the Us on April 20th. For those of you looking to check out Deep Blue Sea 2, the wait is finally over on the 17th, and for those looking to experience some movies with more of a dramatic flavor, both Tilt and the controversial Us and Them hit VOD on April 10th.
Other notable digital releases for April 2018 include Dead on Arrival (4/2), Corbin Nash (4/20), William Friedkin’s exorcism documentary The Devil and Father Amorth (4/24), and Winchester (4/17) for digital platforms, while those hoping...

"We're going to pull together and find a way to get out of here! First, we're gonna seal off this pool." Hopefully, this new batch of shark conservationists in Deep Blue Sea 2 doesn't end up like the person I just quoted, Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson) from the first movie, and get eaten by any Great White sharks. We'll find out soon enough when Deep Blue Sea 2 comes to home media on April 17th:
Press Release: Burbank, CA – Building the better shark still isn’t a good idea in Deep Blue Sea 2, the long-awaited sequel to the hit theatrical thriller coming this spring from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The feature-length film arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Digital starting April 17, 2018.

Deep Blue Sea, Renny Harlin’s 1999 sci-fi/horror fest that released during a fairly busy summer season, is a concept that would seem right up the alley of a Syfy original. Which is why it’s totally appropriate that the company is now bringing us a sequel in the form of Deep Blue Sea 2.
Set to revolve around “a scientist conducting experiments on bull sharks,” which naturally doesn’t go well, we’re finally beginning to learn more about what’s in store. After the film’s first trailer dropped over the weekend, we’ve now been gifted some details on when exactly it’ll debut and what else we’ll see on the Blu-ray.
Directed by Darin Scott, and starring Michael Beach, Deep Blue Sea 2 arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital starting April 17 and can currently be pre-ordered on Amazon. Unfortunately, the special features won’t be plentiful,...

The long gestating sequel to Deep Blue Sea is finally set to launch this April, and today brings our first trailer, plus details on the blu-ray. Come inside to learn more.
While I'm never terribly confident in straight to blu-ray sequels, I can't help but be excited for the upcoming release of Deep Blue Sea 2. Despite the goofiness, I really loved the first movie; I admit I'm a sucker for monster/shark movies regardless of the level of ridiculousness. The premise really isn't too far off the rails and made for some tense action sequences.
Word of a sequel have been floating around since its launch nearly 20 years ago (1999), but nothing ever came to fruition until recently. Now it's finally happening and set to launch on blu-ray/digital on April 17, 2018, plus we even get a trailer!
This definitely looks like Deep Blue Sea...to the point of feeling more like a reboot than sequel,...

I'm sure you all remember Samuel L. Jackson's 1999 shark film Deep Blue Sea. Some say it featured one of the most surprising and unexpected deaths in movie history. Right as Samuel L. Jackson is about to give a big inspiring speech, from out of nowhere, a Shark jumps out of the water and eats him. I thought it was a fun flick, and now there's a sequel that, of course, looks even more ridiculous than the first movie.
20 years after the first film, we are getting Deep Blue Sea 2, which follows shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre), who is "invited to consult on a new, top secret project run by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach). When science meddles with the time-tested process of nature and nurture, the outcome can be deadly."

Nearly 20 years after its initial release, Renny Harlin's Deep Blue Sea is still regarded as one of the most fun and intense entries to the cinematic shark pool. While Steven Spielberg's Jaws remains the apex predator in the eyes of many film fans, Harlin's 1999 movie—like its genetically enhanced sharks—cannot be ignored, and Warner Bros. is diving back into shark-infested waters with Deep Blue Sea 2.
Coming soon to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital platforms from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Deep Blue Sea 2 is teased in its first trailer (see below) that premiered exclusively on IGN.

Deep Blue Sea, Renny Harlin’s 1999 sci-fi/horror fest that was unleashed during a pretty loaded summer season, is a concept that would seem right up the alley of a Syfy original.
For those unfamiliar with it, here’s the gist. In an effort to cure Alzheimer’s, a team of scientists working on a floating laboratory named Aquatica in the middle of the ocean have genetically engineered a trio of Mako sharks whose brain tissue fluids, once drained, serve as the key to unlocking the cure. Unfortunately, the sharks’ increased brain size only results in making the beasts even smarter, and it’s not long before the sharks enact a plan to gain their own freedom by picking off everyone they can and sinking the facility itself in the process.
As you probably know, there’s nothing deep about Deep Blue Sea. It knows it’s not Jaws, and...
