Anurag Kashyap Is Gearing Up To Turn Into A Father-In-Law (Photo Credit –Instagram)
Anurag Kashyap got the sweetest shock of his life last year, when his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap announced that she was engaged to her boyfriend Shane Gregoire. Kashyap, at that time was promoting his film Kennedy at the Cannes Film Festival and was overwhelmed with the news.
Now, Aaliyah and Shane are about to get married in 2025, and recently, in an interview, the Bombay Velvet filmmaker opened up on organizing and arranging his daughter’s wedding and the economics of that wedding.
Aaliyah and Shane have been in a relationship for quite some time, and the Starkid once even defended trolls who called out Shane for living off Anurag Kashyap‘s hard-earned money. It was then Aaliyah broke the silence and revealed that neither of them had taken money from their parents and had been independent for a long time.

Anurag Kashyap, who is known for cult-classics like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Black Friday’, ‘Gulaal’ and others, is putting a price cap on the newer talents who want to meet him for a potential collaboration.
This action comes in the light of the filmmaker’s claims about random people meeting him and adding up nothing to his films or ending up giving mediocre work to him.
The filmmaker took to his Instagram on Saturday and shared a long note notifying his followers about the change in his approach.
Anurag wrote: “I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre s**t. So now onwards I don’t want to waste my time with meeting random people who think they’re creative geniuses. So I will now have rates.”
He further mentioned, “If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes I will charge Rs 1 lakh,...

One Shot is a series that seeks to find an essence of cinema history in one single image of a movie. In Anurag Kashyap's socio-political drama Gulaal (2009), the stirring climactic lament "Duniya" encapsulates the filmmaker's disillusionment with the world: a world mired in deceit, greed, sectarianism, and megalomania; a world where goodness succumbs to the brute force of evil. This song sequence sees the naïve protagonist Dilip Singh (Raj Singh Chaudhary) slowly dying of his gunshot wound, culminating in the antagonist Karan (Aditya Srivastava) being declared the head of the secessionist Rajputana movement. The haunting crescendo by music composer-lyricist-singer Piyush Mishra underscores the close-up framing of Karan, whose devilish stare into the camera has been etched in the collective memory of Kashyap's admirers. Throughout his career, the rebellious auteur has had to bear criticism for exploring dark themes in his films, propagating cynicism, and indulging in downbeat endings. Like Dilip,...

Actress Zoya Hussain said she has never been a fan of the idea of people getting work owing to the number of followers they have on social media. Although the trend of two-dimensional characterisation of women on screen is changing, Zoya feels most people are still averse to actresses wanting to try something different.
The actress, who made a mark with her debut film, Anurag Kashyap's "Mukkabaaz" in 2017, has also starred in "Laal Kaptaan". She will soon be seen in the Rana Daggubati-starrer "Haathi Mere Saathi".
Zoya feels makers only want to sign actors with a huge social media presence today.

Anurag Kashyap, the “angry young man” of Hindi cinema, whose creative genius envisioned works like “Gangs of Wasseypur“, “Dev D” and “Ugly” has always made films that are a warcry- a rebel with a cause to detract from the joie de vivre of Bollywood. Each of his films are decked upon another, a tryst with a dark caricature of the subaltern milieu, anchored at the helm by contemporary politics and violence. In an interview, Kashyap describes his latest endeavour “Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai” as a Sai Paranjpye thriller. Descriptions and definitions apart, it is starkly liberating from the Kashyap-esque tradition of filmmaking in terms of its storytelling and critique. As is his wont to stand ground against the establishment, Kashyap barters the nuances of a refined story for a more didactically inclined narrative.

He is ?left? but right. She is exploited but she knows her ?rights?. Bamfaad directed by Ranjan Chandel and presented by Anurag Kashyap had the potential of an explosively raw and pious love story from Allahabad but alas. It?s all together another matter that megastar Amitabh Bachchan is also left - handed, is the undefeated icon for the young rebel persona on screen and is from Allahabad.

Celebrated Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap (“Gangs of Wasseypur”) and his partners, the directors and producers Vikramaditya Motwane (“Bhavesh Joshi Superhero”) Vikas Bahl (“Queen”) and producer Madhu Mantena (“Trapped”), have dissolved their seven-year partnership at Phantom Films.
Phantom recently produced the series “Sacred Games” for Netflix, with Motwane as showrunner; he also co-directed with Kashyap. Motwane was recently announced as showrunner for the show’s second season, with Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan as co-directors. It is not immediately clear how the Phantom dissolution will affect the fate of “Sacred Games.”
Kashyap is a familiar figure at Busan with several of his films showcased at the festival. He served on the New Currents jury in 2015.
Phantom was formed in 2011 as a collective of like-minded filmmakers. Phantom’s debut production was 2013’s “Lootera,” directed by Motwane. Bahl’s “Queen” was a breakout feminist hit in 2013 and Kashyap’s “Ugly” was a Cannes selection the same year.

Vineet Kumar Singh stars as a low-caste boxer fighting for respect in Anurag Kashyap’s heavy-hitting social critique
An eclectic run of credits – bizarre psychothriller No Smoking (2007), Devdas update Dev D (2009), crime diptych Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) – have established writer-director-producer Anurag Kashyap as Hindi cinema’s foremost moderniser. He took a beating on Cotton Club-like period folly Bombay Velvet (2015), but his latest, Mukkabaaz (The Brawler) is a canny comeback bid: a heavy-hitting social critique disguised as a rock ’em-sock ’em sports movie. It follows the attempts of angry lower-caste boxer Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh) to claw back personal and professional satisfaction after walloping the well-connected coach whose mute niece the boxer was wooing.
Kashyap’s own struggles to stay mobile within a stiflingly regulated, sometimes rigged system never seem very far from the surface. This film-maker’s preference for no-holds-barred realism over the prevailing comforts of melodrama manifests in characters who spit and curse,...

Indian indie superstar Anurag Kashyap is back after his festival hit Psycho Raman with a brand new, slighty more polished and less grimy looking film, Mukkabaaz (The Brawler). The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and has already made numerous festival stops around the world with many more to come. Mukkabaaz centers around a poor boxer named Shravan, played by Vineet Kumar Singh, who falls in love with a mute girl named...

Writer-director-producer Anurag Kashyap is back at the top of his game in The Brawler (Mukkabaaz), an unconventional boxing film and love story that offers a barbed critique of India’s much-abused caste system, religious intolerance and the political corruption that permeates society. The Busan International Film Festival is about a month away and with their recent lineup announcement we are starting to see lots of exciting promotional material for the upcoming films. India is very well represented in this year's Busan lineup, with eleven films altogether, including new projects from Anurag Kashyap (Mukkabaaz/The Brawler), Hansal Mehta (Omerta), Shlok Sharma (Zoo) and SS Rajamouli's worldwide blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion. In 2012, Makhija directed a little film called Oonga, about a young boy inspired by a performance of the Ramayana who turns himself into Lord Ram and his attempt to save his town from Maoist Naxalite rebels. The story is...
