- In Kiev, Prince Oleg promises to attack Novgorod and give painful treatment to those that have betrayed him. Harald takes over the position of ruler of Kattegat and proposes Gunnhild to get married with him and be the Queen of Kattegat. Ubbe and Torvi loses Asa and find that the land is not the promising golden land. - Ivar and Hvitserk's escape cart passes through a passion play where Oleg plays the flagellated Jesus. Bishop Leon stops them but allows the cart to pass, seemingly recognizing Igor. Ivar successfully delivers grateful crown prince Igor in Novgorod to uncle prince Dir, who gathered substantial forces to challenge Oleg, who mounts his army for bloody revenge. In Kattegat, Harald is crowned as king by Erik, who is gratefully made the captain of his bodyguard after killing a rival assassin who hired him. Harald plans to marry Gunnhild and Ingrid as his joint queens, convinced that the latter's child is his and not Bjorn's. Ingrid later admits to Gunnhild she too ignores the father. Conflicted, Gunnhild confides in Bjorn's burial mound that the golden age of the Vikings may expire. Ubbe's expedition eventually finds land, but it's far from the "golden land" Othere described. To attract settlers, Kjetill names it "Greenland". Ubbe divides the land equally between the settlers, who soon quarrel, lacking food. In the morning, Frodi discovers that a whale has been beached on his and Kjetill's land, but the latter claims it alone.—KGF Vissers
