A different one
gabrielbastosgadelha19 July 2020
This was a season very different from the others, as it shows the rivalry between two teams. The two protagonists and the extra ranger are cool, but the other characters are average. a different season, but not so good, just cool.

Two teams in one series
gilangbae17 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a super sentai series that is unique in that there are two super sentai teams in one series fighting the same enemy. Lupinranger is a group of thieves while Patrenger is a group of police, so the two teams are also hostile to each other and compete against the main enemy in this series, namely Gangler.

I quite like the drama in this series, especially the rivalry between the two teams, especially the rivalry between Lupine Red and Pat Ichigo. I also like the story concept of this series, where Gangler uses a special tool called the Lupine collection that can give power to its owner. So to be able to defeat Gangler, you must first take a collection of lupines from him, so in this series it's not just fighting, but there is a special purpose.

Unfortunately even though both teams are the main super sentai in this series, the Lupinranger has more roles than the Patranger. Since the beginning of the series, Lupinranger is indeed more highlighted while Patranger seems to be just an ordinary character. Even though the Patranger is dealing with the Gangler leader, the Lupinranger's role is much more.

The reason for Gangler as the main enemy is also less clear. The ending of the series was also unremarkable, with the two teams still competing against each other, even though both teams had resolved their issues between them.

This series is not bad, it's just that there are still many shortcomings in this series such as the roles of the two teams, and the storyline is also not very good. The drama between the characters is also ordinary, and a little boring. Even so, this series is actually still quite good for the audience to enjoy.

Don't let the title fool you
vinhpanda27 November 2018
Don't let the word "VS" in the title and the narrator's "Which side do you choose" fool you, this season doesn't have a fair competition between two team as you would expect from a "versus series". There's no equal footing between two teams or even a concrete rivalry. Instead, one team keeps gaining more and more advantages, while the other keeps struggling to even complete their mission. One team obviously has the central role in the story while the other serves as a pseudo-rival / obstacle for them to either overcome or eventually team up with. Basically, you can take out an entire team, replace them with common people doing their job and the story and its structure wouldn't change much. All in all, as a season where there are one "main" team who get most of the relevancy and a sub-team who gives minor rivalry and will eventually teams up with the main team, this season is slightly above average in the Super Sentai standard (this is a compliment). As a "versus" season where two team should have equal advantages and compelling rivalry, however, this season falters and falls on it knees.

Very very frustrating to watch if you cheer for a certain team over the other.

Warning: Spoilers
When there is a series involving 2 different opposing team, the audience will most likely pick a side, even the running tagline asks "which side are you on?"

The thing is, this series is so bad at trying to keep both side of the audience to enjoy the series. If you're a fan of lupinranger you might like it very much, but when you're on patranger side, trust me you'll be frustrated as you keep going through each episode. All of the good stuff (mechas, power-ups) keeps going to lupinranger while left patranger with minimum power-ups. The basic idea is that dial fighters would go to lupin while trigger machine for the pats. Yet some triggers were primarily used by the lupin or the grandaddy of the problem, lupin/patren x.

The same goes with the story line. While patranger might had significant character development, it is relatively less than lupinranger. I could tell few episode where the patranger almost did not appear at all and just showed themselves for few minutes as formality to keep the "VS" concept that "supposedly" involve the 2 sentais equally still there. They tried hard in keeping the lights to patranger especially by giving them the honor of using the power up forms at the end of the episode, yet not enough to call it equal.

What i really don't like the most is the "sixth" ranger, takao noel that keeps picking one side over the other. The concept of the character is as the embodiment of the two opposing sentai that shares the same objectives from both sentais. Yet, the execution failed in doing so. It would be better if he was a double agent for both teams and would give information equally, yet all we've seen were him utilizing and making use of the gpso facility for helping the lupin. We might as well not call him a part of patranger. It really urges me when the pats knew they were being shafted or left behind and did nothing about it.

In conclusion, this show is really terrible at keeping both sides equal. I've seen worse storytelling, worse suits, worse mech/robots but this series frustrates me the most with it's development for a sentai team. It's such a shame that the actual concept is brilliant, yet the execution was very bad.

Despite the terrible execution, the OST, mecha and suit design are actually good. But no matter how good they are, you can tell that a show is bad when the terrible execution covers all of the good things.

The new heir to the throne when it comes to atrocity
kazumipotato30 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen some really bad sentai seasons, but nothing beats this season, this sentai season is one of the most overrated seasons of all time, The storyline is boring, poorly-written, The characters have really forced heroic personalities, the ganglers are the worst sentai villains in the entire franchise, their a pain to watch, have no development whatsoever the rivalry between Keiichiro and Kairi was BORING as hell, there is no build up whatsoever and there wasn't even a mini-arc revolving around the two another thing is the GODAWFUL finale, the final battle sucks, I hated everything about this show i would have given it a 0 but there is one redeeming quality and those are the suits.

That's it.

the biggest disappointment in the sentai franchise.
goldstriker-6144329 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The trailer for this show was overhyped, i even rooted that this show was going to be a dark sentai season, and the fact we are getting a concept that was never done before, but what was shown was nothing from the trailer, it was trying to hard to be as light-hearted, comedic as Go-Onger and Carranger, the characters are bland, cliched and underdeveloped, the villains are boring and unintimidating, and the whole VS concept was discarded not even half way through the show, i hated the mecha designs, i hated the characters, and i hated the villains to the point, heck i even consider Ninninger a more tolerable show than this, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS Show.
