The musician and visual artist Jean Dawson is consistently viral — clips of his wide-ranging and somewhat existential interviews have a way of multiplying on social feeds — and yet remains a genuine enigma. Growing up, the 26-year-old artist split his time between Tijuana and San Diego near the border. His mother is of Mexican descent and his father is Black, and he says he drew early inspiration both from hip-hop and Latin music. Generally, though, Dawson prefers to eschew simple categorization. Recently, he stopped by Rolling Stone’s offices ahead of...

The resemblance between Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard is so uncanny, they have been confused for one another since college and are almost always listed as celebrity doppelgängers. On June 23, the It actor posted a TikTok saying she was "f*cking sick" of being compared to her Jurassic World counterpart. This isn't the first time Jessica has joked about the pair's resemblance, and it probably won't be the last.
Back in 2015, she posted a dubsmash of Bryce lip-syncing to the parody song "I Am Not Jessica Chastain (Bryce Dallas Howard)" on Instagram. It's nice knowing the duo are in on the joke, seeing as Bryce is the one who emailed Jessica the original clip and the clip of her lip-syncing. "That's us addressing the 'same person' rumor. So clearly now, we're not. But I'm...

"This isn't the Parent Trap, y'all." Jessica Chastain recently made a must-see TikTok about constantly being mistaken for Bryce Dallas Howard and the result is hilarious. The Zero Dark Thirty actress made a short video singing along to the popular TikTok song, "Sick of It." While mouthing the lyrics "I'm f—kin' sick of it," her caption read, "When you spend 20 years building a career and they still think you work at Jurassic Park." The funny caption is a nod to her eerie resemblance to actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who has starred in the Jurassic Park film installments, and coincidentally also co-starred with her in The...

TV producer Krishnendu Majumdar has been confirmed as chair of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, becoming the first person of color to hold the role in BAFTA’s 73-year history, and the youngest chair in 35 years.
The decision, which was made at BAFTA’s digital Annual General Meeting last night, was expected as Majumdar was previously deputy chair, and traditionally the deputy becomes chair. His tenure as chair will run for the next three years – the newly extended term for all future BAFTA chairs. He succeeds “1917” producer Pippa Harris, who now serves as deputy chair.
In a statement, Majumdar said: “This year has been a difficult and turbulent time for many in our industry, working with Pippa, BAFTA’s talented and committed staff and membership, I want BAFTA to be at the heart of rebuilding the industry post-Covid. It is vital to ensure that we support people of all backgrounds,...

Emmy-winning TV producer Krishnendu Majumdar is set to become the next chairman of BAFTA and the first person of color to occupy the prestigious post. Majumdar will begin his two-year tenure in 2020 after the term of the current chair, Pippa Harris, ends.
Majumdar has first taken up the post of deputy chair, an appointment that was announced at the British academy’s annual general meeting June 3. Under the organization’s usual procedure, the deputy chair automatically takes over as chair the following year.
Majumdar, 44, has served for several years as the head of BAFTA’s television committee and is a member of the academy’s board. With Richard Yee, he co-founded London-based Me+You Productions, which makes documentary, drama and comedy projects. The company’s credits include “Sick of It,” with Karl Pilkington; “An Idiot Abroad,” which starred Ricky Gervais and Warwick Davis and earned a BAFTA nomination; and “Hoff the Record,...

Possessed, the ITV Studios-backed company behind Nickelodeon gameshow Keep It Spotless, has brought in former Sky exec Adam MacDonald as chairman and scored a bumper order for ITV format 5 Gold Rings.
The label, which is run by former Deal or No Deal exec producer and “banker” Glenn Hugill, has secured two more runs of 5 Gold Rings, the primetime ITV gameshow hosted by Philip Schofield.
The show, which was previously piloted in the U.S. by NBC, is a physical game show that’s played out on a giant interactive Led floor. Players are given a quintet of rings and must answer questions over five levels. A projection on the floor forms the basis of each question. Players must put the rings on the correct answer, but the rings become smaller throughout the game making it more challenging. At-home viewers are also able to ring answers on their phone and become part of the experience.

Me+You Productions, the producer of Sky comedy Sick of It, has teamed with director Justin Chadwick, who helmed the Idris Elba-fronted Nelson Mandela biopic Long Walk To Freedom, on the story of a young British boy diagnosed with a severe brain tumor.
The indie, which recently struck a U.S. representation deal with Wme, has secured exclusive access to the family of Ashya King and is now developing a three-part, fact-based drama that explores their story,
Saving Ashya is the story of a young British boy who was diagnosed with a severe brain tumor in 2014. Against medical advice, his parents ‘abducted’ him from his NHS hospital bed and fled to Europe for alternative proton therapy. The resulting international manhunt sparked a huge media frenzy. Ashya’s parents were publicly criticized and incarcerated, causing the UK’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, to personally intervene. Now free of cancer, Ashya...

An Idiot Abroad and Sick of It producer Me+You Productions is to make an aggressive push into the U.S. after striking an exclusive representation deal with William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (Wme).
Under the two-year deal, Wme will represent Me+You’s drama and comedy properties in North America. The British company, which was established by Richard Yee and Krishnendu Majumdar, was previously represented by CAA in the U.S., but largely for its non-scripted titles.
Me+You recently produced Sky One comedy drama Sick of It, created and written by Karl Pilkington and Yee. The six-part series is being launched at Mipcom by BBC Studios. Similarly, Sky Vision will be selling Me+You’s three-part as-yet-untitled anthology series that was announced last week for Channel 4. The series, which is written by The Escape’s Dominic Savage, stars Crazy Rich Asian’s Gemma Chan, Minority Report’s Samantha Morton...

Sky is developing a police comedy starring Rogue One’s Daniel Mays from Broadchurch and Tin Star indie Kudos.
I hear the pay-tv giant is making a non-tx pilot, which has the working title of Code 404, written by Horrible Histories and Not Going Out writer Daniel Peak and is being co-produced by Water and Power Productions.
Directed by Ben Palmer, who previously helmed The Inbetweeners and David Mitchell and Robert Webb comedy Back, the broadcaster is currently deciding whether to take the project to full series.
The full details of the police project have been kept under wraps, but I’m told the narrative comedy has a similar tone to Charlie Brooker’s A Touch of Cloth, the spoof cop comedy that ran on Sky One in 2012. Phil Temple and Diederick Santer exec produce for Kudos and Sam Myer exec produces for Water and Power.
