Since this documentary has gone viral in the Spring of 2021 many folks are curious what happened to the main participants in the film. Perhaps there's a future documentary idea there.
Did co-directors Christopher Diiorio and Joe Malone partake in alcohol drinking during the making of First Call you ask? Well, er, yes they did. This was in order to relate on the same environmental level as the interviewees in the film, plus they were really really thirsty all the time.
FIRST CALL was made in 2000 and had a brief theatrical release at that time. The documentary then laid dormant until it was put on YouTube in 2014. From 2014 until Spring 2021 it only got about 500 views and then for some inexplicable reason went viral. As of July 11th it has racked up 1.2 million views.
Based on the subject matter, The directors were surprised that the film ended up coming out so funny and positive, almost like a comedic documentary.
