I like these programmes, lovely scenery and they also go into some detail about the engineering involved in the locomotives etc.
But one thing which drives me nuts is the constant referral to anyone who drives or maintains the trains as 'engineers'. They're not engineers. They are either train drivers or mechanics/fitters/maintenance people. Engineers are people who have studied for several years to obtain a university/college degree in their chosen field, they do not drive or work on equipment full time tho they may be involved when doing research or prototyping.
This is very much due to the American habit of inflating job titles or using euphemisms. e.g. a toilet cleaner becomes a sanitation engineer, a lavatory becomes a rest room, and it's laughed at by the rest of the world.

Love the show....on mute

The narrator always seems to be in competition with the loud and obnoxious music. When someone else is talking the music is turned down and they don't have to shout. Commercials are quieter than the show. The locations are fun and intriguing. Just bring down the volume.

Good train show, poorly groomed host

I love to watch train shows, especially when they're more about the actual trains than the places they visit, and this show does not disappoint in that respect.
Too bad about the host. I don't expect the hosts of programs to be young and attractive, but I do expect them to be clean cut and properly groomed. That means no facial piercings, no visible tattoos, and no facial hair. This host either thinks that scruff is "in" or he is too lazy to shave. Which is a shame.
In addition, the season 4 show about the "reunification express" in Vietnam some totally unnecessary, and far left anti-American sentiment about the Vietnam war. Have we gotten so low as a society that we're politicizing travel programs? Shame on the producers.

Nice concept with uneven execution

Highlighting scenic train routes is a great idea. Some of the episodes, like the Rocky Mountaineer, give you a real sense of the train ride, both from a scenic standpoint and in terms of the accommodations and amenities the train cars offer. Perfect info for people considering taking the train trip. Other episodes, Tren Crucero in particular, spend the majority of the episode on maintenance issues and operating mishaps, with every little time devoted to the experience of riding the train. I enjoy traveling but have very little interest in a lessons on train and track maintenance.
