- The supreme court rules in favor of Krever and his report finally comes out. It names many for wrongdoing and aims to rebuild the flawed blood system in Canada. While victims still suffer and loved ones mourn the dead, at least many feel that their voices were heard and those responsible were held accountable. But Ben is not satisfied and pushes for criminal charges.—CBC press release
- The notification that Krever's staff sends out to proponents has the opposite effect as intended, the proponents who take the commission to court in asserting that it does not have regulatory authority to assign blame. The issue ultimately goes to the Supreme Court for judgment, Krever who has to wait for that ruling before he and his staff can issue the final report of the commission. During and after that process, life goes on for most involved with the tragedy, some who don't make it to the time the report is issued. Both Peter and Darby, and Ryan and Ruby, contemplate having a baby, each couple assessing the known risks in their decisions. Alice and Ben's marriage continues to falter, largely in Ben's bitterness, he who will not be satisfied until he sees those individuals who made the decisions rot in jail, he who takes steps to see that that happens. And Will and Margaret take the report as the first step in they being able to resume some normalcy in their lives.—Huggo
