Flatlined and now has rigor mortis
Silent Witness used to be a must watch series, but it has slowly slipped into a coma and is unlikely to respond, I have signed the 'Do not resuscitate' paperwork for this series.
The plot is lack-lustre with acting to compliment it, the supporting actors were better than the full-time lead actors who managed to eradicate any depth to their characters and it was painful to watch. At no point was I interested in the characters and there was no level of suspense as the so-called pathologists outshone the Police (yet again) and saved the day. Any remote credibility previous episodes have had have vanished.
I have been for some time critical of the BBC as they are trying to shoehorn diversity into every single series they produce. Doctor Who is now a woman, his/her assistants have been gay/bisexual and or lesbians and now Silent Witness has gone down the Trans route. Gender pronouns aplenty this was like sitting through a diversity and equality training course at times and I found it quite condescending. This coupled with Liz Carr as the token disabled character doesn't feel like casting for the class of actor but their diversity, sorry Liz Carr I don't believe you are a very good actor and you have the roll purely for the BBC to look diverse. I don't mean this as an insult the actor directly as she does some very good stand up but that's the way I see it.
Please BBC rest this series for a few years, regroup and bring it back with the same quality of writing and acting it used to have. Invest some time and talent into this series.
