Great show, not a documentary

Gorgeous cinematography, settings and costumes. Lead actress, Charlotte Hope, in title role is spirited and fun to watch. The rest of the cast is interesting especially Stephanie Levi-John, The Black lady in waiting whose character is based on the real-life African retinue that Catherine brought to England.

Who cares about herbs?
vintagegeek7 May 2019
Ok, why do we have to watch her hand maiden spend 5 minutes looking for herbs? Episode is generally ok if you ignore the overwhelming amount of air time they give to the hand maiden. The period representation is basically good. We'll give it another episode and hope the content gets a lot more poignant and more focused on the principal characters, not the servants. The characters have been illuminated now. So, we shall see.

Lukewarm Series Premiere
jamericanbeauty7 May 2019
The first outing was kind of good, but too slow and part unrealistic. Would someone really be allowed to speak to a King like that for just demanding to enter a locked room and where was his Kingsguard?? I'm not into historical period dramas but I tried this because I loved Charlotte Hope in Game of Thrones. I tuned in to see Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess), not her lady-in-waiting Catalina "Lina" de Cardonnes. She hogs up too much screen time and her speeches don't add anything. I did some research and apparently the showrunners are doing some forced diversity. That's pandering, which I find insulting. Oh and her nice sweet kind Husband Arthur is the odd ugly one, while his Brother Henry "Harry" is the rude but smooth handsome one - pretty stereotypical. Episode 2 will be a make or break decision regarding this series. No need to waste time on it if it's not good. You can simply Google Catherine of Aragon and read her fate.

Drama for teens

Warning: Spoilers
This show seemed like it would be decent based on the previous related series but its more like a teeb soap opera then anything. Many many historical inaccuracies like high ranking black servants and soldiers and sexy letters between the prince and princess and the way her servant speaks to nobility. I find it hilarious how someone in the reviews is complaining how sexist this show is because a woman was fighting and doing well in battle yet the main actress has to appear fully naked for ratings.. Lol wow. Speaking of childish drama.. If you enjoy history and are an adult I would skip this meladrama series for something more mature and accurate.
