It’s official. Amazon has confirmed the casting of Maggie Q as star of the upcoming Renée Ballard Bosch spinoff series, which Deadline previously exclusively reported. We’re also getting a first look at Maggie Q and Titus Welliver in sneak peek photos of the Renée Ballard crossover episode in the Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale. You can see above and below. Additionally, Jet Wilkinson has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the Untitled Renee Ballard series for Prime Video. Wilkinson also will direct the Season 3 finale of Bosch: Legacy, a crossover which serves as the introduction of Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.
The Untitled Renée Ballard series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division—a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is going to see a large influx of content as Paramount, under the banner of Avatar Studios, gears up to expand the universe to make it into an IP on par with Star Wars and Harry Potter. While the next entry in the franchise is going to be an adult Gaang film in 2025, the studio is also eyeing to release a third animated series in the franchise, one that will follow the Earth Avatar, who will take over as the bridge between the spirit and the mortal realm from their predecessor Korra.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have no doubt that they’ll have to push their boundaries if they are to harbor any hopes of making the DC Universe a success that can go on to challenge the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the DC Extended Universe’s dismal run, there is a lot of pressure on this franchise to deliver.
No wonder that they are trying to get everything right. And one step in that direction is getting the cast right. For now, it seems like Iñaki Godoy might be perfect for one role in the new franchise.

Avatar: The Last Airbender star Ian Ousley has recently revealed his desire to play Dcu’s Teen Titans role of Garfield Logan. The factory reset of DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran has certainly opened doors for several actors to have their shot at DC Universe after the inception of Chapter 1, Gods and Monsters.

In the near future, Gunn might look to use the popular series, Teen Titan, with an entirely new cast. But ahead of that, Ousley revealed that he has been keen on playing Beast Boy— one of the primary characters of the superpowered teen band. However, fans are not quite so sure as they find another actor better suited for the role.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is on its way to getting a hefty third helping after the show closed out with the second series, The Legend of Korra. The franchise is heading towards a revival, as Paramount is looking to develop a slew of projects set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, there might be a hiccup in the first entry that the series has had in over a decade.
Aang, Katara, Sokka and Momo in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Avatar: The Last Airbender had a beloved cast that played the young heroes during their formative years and became synonymous with the show and its success. However, in an interview during Momocon, Michaela Jill Murphy, who voiced Toph under the name of Jessie Flower, revealed a piece of information that could leave a bad taste in the audience’s mouth, and perhaps hurt the film’s chances of wowing fans.

Here's a return no one saw coming: Aaron Stanford is appearing as the mutant Pyro in "Deadpool & Wolverine," reprising his role from "X2: X-Men United" and "X-Men: The Last Stand." It feels like the movie settling for whatever cameo it can secure since Pyro is very much a B-lister among the X-Men.
St. John Allerdyce (just John Allerdyce in the movies) has the mutant ability of pyrokinesis, or controlling fire (hence his adopted name of Pyro). However, it comes with a caveat. Unlike, say, Firebenders from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" or Colonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, from "Fullmetal Alchemist", Pyro can't create fire. Hence, his comic costume has a dual hose flamethrower (with the tubes affixed to his wrist) to create the flames for him, which he can then manipulate.
Mr. Allerdyce is Australian (with the accent to show it), continuing the trend started in the reboot...

Toph is one of the legendary characters of Avatar: The Last Airbender. No, seriously, name another character who is as unapologetic, sassy, and powerful as her. She invented a new type of bending while imprisoned in a metal cell. If that’s not greatness, you need to get your eyes checked.
If anyone knows Toph inside out, then it’s Jessie Flower, the voice actor for Toph in the Avatar animation. In an interview with her, Flower revealed her observations of the character and how easy it is to mess it up.

On February 22, 2024, the long-awaited live-action adaptation of the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender series finally premiered with the eight-episode first season. The series adapted the initial stories of the popular animated series. Regardless of the final result, most fans were actually eager to see what Netflix has done with the series. While there have been some lukewarm comments, the series was an overall success for Netflix, which resulted in a renewal for Seasons 2 and 3, which are currently being written to be produced at a later date; no release dates have been given as of the time of writing.
The original animated series’ seasons consisted of twenty 20-minute episodes, so you can imagine how there was a lot more space to explore and evolve the story. Netflix’s live-action adaptation had “only” eight 1-hour episodes, which is significantly less time to evolve the story, so some cuts had to be made...

Avatar: The Last Airbender animation was a groundbreaking series that has stayed relevant for almost two decades. Netflix’s Avatar live-action series attempts to revamp the animation with cast members who portray the characters in every respect possible.

CBS is taking a page out of Netflix’s playbook by announcing its programming success in the billions of minutes watched.
If you were wondering what that might mean to a broadcast network, it measures out to 456 billion minutes of CBS programming watched in the first four months of 2024.
With two new hits on its hands — Tracker and Elsbeth — this doesn’t surprise us in the least.
Here’s the real measure of their success, though.
Viewers delivered over 30% more time spent in front of CBS programming than Netflix and over 231% more than all other streamers combined.
No wonder they’re patting themselves on the back.
Those are incredible numbers that often go unnoticed when you use traditional ratings tools to deliver the news.
Even crazier, the time spent watching CBS programming has increased by 5.8% over the same period in 2023.

The beloved animated series Avatar The Last Airbender has been a topic of discussion among fans for years. But one aspect that recently sparked controversy is Aang’s flying abilities. While in the original animated series, Aang lacked the power to fly, which made him stick to gliding. The first episode of the new live-action show made it look like the character was actually flying.

This particular misunderstanding led to a long-standing debate among fans who wondered if the new Netflix adaptation, Avatar: The Last Airbender, offered Aang with new powers like that of flying. But recently, the debate was put to ease by the live-action show’s seasons 2 and 3 showrunner Jabbar Raisani, who clarified that Aang can only glide using his airbending skills, not fly.

Netflix obviously benefited from the viewing numbers of the mixedly-received Avatar: The Last Airbender and Parasyte: The Grey, which gained almost perfect reviews. The current trend for the live-action manga adaptations is continued by the platform’s new top tier movie, which is now holding the fourth place in its global chart.
Its plot revolves around the private detective Ryo Saeba investigating the mysterious murders in Tokyo committed by presumably supernatural creatures. Apart from his main occupation, Ryo is also much into being a wannabe ladies' man.
Nevertheless, his usual way of life changes when his favorite co-worker Hideyuki becomes the victim of a relentless serial killer, forcing Ryo to redefine his values and to delve into this case deeper. It’s also supported by his new annoying partner in the process, Hideyuki's sister Kaori, who seems to be the exact opposite of the detective.

When it comes to nostalgic TV shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender is unrivaled. The Nickelodeon show had an outstanding run during its three seasons from 2005 to 2008. Even though it has been 19 years since the show was premiered on our TV screens, it continues to charm its audience. The show features elements that could not be found anywhere else and for an animated series made exclusively for children was age-neutral.

For fans of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005-2008), news of a live-action movie was met with equal parts excitement and skepticism. Would the producers really be able to pull off the stunning visuals and world-building of the animated series, as well as choose the right people to play the characters and remain true to the Avatar legacy?

The series which ran for 4 seasons, was well received for its narrative and character sketches. The show saw various antagonists who challenge Korra in her journey to fulfil her destiny. One of the aspects that stood out was how nuanced these villains were without being mere cardboards figures. The creators credited another animated film produced by Studio Ghibli for inspiring them in this regard.

The Legend of Korra has perfectly continued the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the original animated series introduced the world, the spin-off built upon it to a degree no one saw coming. One of the most explored aspects was that of bending; more specifically, how much more one could do as a bender.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
During Aang’s time, it was as though we were shown only the tip of the iceberg. However, by the time Korra comes around, it is as though everything becomes more and more advanced. Suddenly, earthbenders and firebenders are also taking part in medicine, and airbenders could propel themselves like cannonballs.

Over the years, we have witnessed multiple iconic female villains in many franchises. From Cersei Lannister to Bellatrix Lestrange, a lot of fictional female villains have made a huge impact on the entertainment industry as a whole. However, not all female antagonists are able to get the respect that they really deserve and a similar thing happened to The Legend of Korra‘s iconic antagonist, Kuvira.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has given several reasons for fans to love the animated series. From its intriguing fictional world to its mystical spiritual theme and more, there is much to be enjoyed in the series. While fans love its themes of honor, redemption, friendship, and loyalty, they have also come to love the romantic elements of the series.

Although romance is not as idealized as is in its successor series, The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender does have some romantic tropes with Aang and Katara’s relationship occupying the central space. One instance has fans particularly swooning over Aang’s love for Katara, which could have proven detrimental to the existence of their world.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Aang remains a controversial character as many fans question if he really has not killed anybody despite the amount of fights and battles he has gone through. Surely, he has the skills and wits to control every element, but what about those who are not gifted like him?
Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender
The question still lingers: has Aang killed anyone? The general answer would be no, not explicitly. But certainly, fans cannot say he is completely innocent. Even though he is the Avatar and he follows certain tenets, he has still hurt a lot of people.
Reddit Fans Weigh In On Aang’s Total Number Of Kills
Avatar fans took their sentiments to Reddit and discussed Aang’s number of kills. One user noticed that the character did a lot of violent actions throughout the show, which implies that he could have killed some of them.

Come on guys, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” wasn’t that bad.
According to a March 11, 2024 CableTV.com poll of 1,000 U.S. streaming users, nearly one in four (24 percent to be exact) believe Netflix has gotten worse over the past year. The silver lining is that Netflix is still the most favored streamer overall: a third (33 percent) of the respondents say they would still pick Netflix over any other service, and only 22 percent said they have a “negative opinion” of the streaming leader. In non-survey-land, Netflix just keeps on growing: by the end of March it had 270 million global paid subscribers.
On the flip side, only 3 percent of the survey’s participants would choose Apple TV+ for their first pick; 47 percent of Americans have a negative view of Apple’s SVOD service. Maybe they just really, really want “Severance” to come back already with its second season (but probably not). We surely do.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has its fair share of straight and queer ships, something that the fandom has endlessly debated about within both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. While The Last Airbender was usually lagging in the canon queer relationship department, it seems that the live-action adaptation of the series amended that with its first season.
Ian Ousley as Sokka, Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara in season 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender
The first season of the show covers a lot of ground. It has a lot more freedom compared to its animated iteration, given that it is a completely separate medium with a different audience in mind. This allowed the story to explore other themes that could only be alluded to in the animated version or had to be wholly absent thanks to the time it was made in and the audience it catered to.

Among his likeliest competitors are two of his own cast mates: 2020 nominee Mark Duplass and series newcomer Jon Hamm, who won the 2015 Best Drama Actor Emmy for “Mad Men” and is widely expected to take this year’s limited series lead prize for “Fargo.”

One of the stars behind Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender got honest about some of the reviews critics gave the show.
Fans were extremely excited ahead of the live-action series' release, especially since everything about the project looked so accurate to the original series.
Sadly, when Avatar finally aired, the reception to it was lukewarm. Critics were vocally disappointed by many aspects of it—though parts of it got constant praise, such as the performances from Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Dallas Liu as Uncle Iroh and Zuko.

Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced audiences to the bending arts, which was a fun spin on a tried and tested magic system that was based on the four classical elements. It fused the elements with martial arts, spirituality, and celestial objects, which was able to weave an original magic system with complex lore that intrigued fans about how the magic of the world of Avatar conducts itself.
Aang, in the Avatar State, is a key part of the magic system.
Complex magic systems like the bending arts tend to come with meticulous planning from the creators. However, there is one aspect of firbending in particular that is uncharacteristically left unexplored in the final seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a concept that factors heavily into the finale of the series.

One of the strongest characters to come out of Avatar: The Last Airbender was the General of the Fire Nation and former heir to the throne, Iroh. In the original show, Aang and Katara end up being together. However, fans have often wondered, if it was the plan to begin with, following the undertones in her and Zuko’s bond. Despite starting off on the wrong foot by living on opposite sides of the war, Katara did eventually start to see good in Zuko, but the original show never overtly inclined towards establishing a romantic bond.

Netflix will be playing catch-up with its slate of films in the latter half of 2024 due to last fall’s dual union strikes. And their slate of animated projects is set to be previewed at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France this June. Last year, the streamer had achieved a high-profile attendance for their showcase of Nimona along with their teasers for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and Blue Eye Samurai. According to Deadline, this year’s presentation will feature directors Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham as they give a sneak peek of Aardman’s upcoming new Wallace & Gromit project, which has yet to have an official title.

An actor from Netfix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender series teased one "heartbreaking" arc that seasons two and three have in store.
For many, one of the best part of Netflix’s live-action remake of the beloved Nickelodeon series was the performances behind beloved characters Iroh and Zuko, played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Dallas Liu.
The dynamic between the two brings the duo from animation into live action, and their bond feels authentic. Sadly, as close as those two are, in Book Two of the animated original, there is a notable break between them, leaving them both on their own.

Fortnite is one of the most successful games of all time, it was incredibly bold and rare for a publisher to release a free-to-play battle royale game in 2017 but the gamble paid off. Each update features new content that fans will enjoy but rumors are suggesting that Epic Games will use nostalgia this following season.
Taking a trip down memory lane isn’t necessarily bad but could indicate creativity’s void. The developers will take the community on a different approach, which may hint at the longevity of Fortnite.

Dallas Liu’s Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation has already shown us how the actor can handle CGI fire, and that puts the character in the running for a host of pyrokinetic characters across media. However, one character that Liu himself wishes to essay is a race-bent Pyro, the character from the X-Men with the exact powerset as Zuko.
Dallas James Liu in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Liu has already essayed a role in the MCU, appearing in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the younger brother of Akwafina’s character, but that has not deterred the actor from voicing his MCU wishlist, which includes the pyrokinetic mutant Pyro, who is set to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, played by Aaron Stanford (who will be reprising his role back from his X-Men days)
