Great animation

The animation of the movie was extraordinary despite the low budget. Some people find it a political satire. Regards of all, the movie was a great effort and it was a fun for all ages.

A cringeworthy movie to be avoided at all costs

References to 'dirty dreams', 'Sheela ki Jawani', and a character 'Raftaar' based on the the 1980's PTV serial 'Andhera Ujala' (voiced by Irfan Khoosat himself) indicate that this movie is targeted at audiences over the age of 40, who for some reason will want to watch an animated movie. The screenwriter has turned a near-bearable storyline and mediocre character modeling into an unbearable movie with a poor script, unendurable dialogues and agonizing references to ancient 80's culture.

Exceptionally Awesome

Oh My Gawd! Who was expecting a superb, International standard movie. When i say International Standard, i am talking about movies like Ice age and Monsters and Angry Bird. It has that class. The makers of this movie just nailed it. After the great success of Commander Safeguard which is also by Mr. Jindani, the movie is a great national hit. I haven't seen this much hype ever created for a movie in Pakistan. It was like back when Khuda kay liay was gonna come and everyone was excited but this time the movie was great. Talk about any angle, the animation, the characters, the cast and most importantly the script was too good. The sarcasm was too damn good. It was kind of a movie that made u laugh on another level. Really impressed by the work. It was not only a funny movie but one with a great message and the makers proved their point when they said its for all ages, because it was. I have seen the cinema full even on like 8th day of the release. Its not a spoiler i guess but the dancing cow was the most hilarious part. After the great impression of Jan Rambo on our generation, he did it again on this younger generation but this time as Jan Mangu, the washing machine. Brrrrrrrr

One of the worst storyline.

I think very fondly of animated animal movies. But this is horrendous edition of a decent animated characters. Not surprised it's from a country like Pakistan. They just showed one goat with blue hijab repeatedly so many times representing the condition of women of the country. I mean is this a kids movie? The main character is so unlikable and the voice actor is an amateur. Please avoid if you think time is precious.

A must watch movie. It contains entertainment for all ages. Even if it targets new government, it hit bulls eye on every matter. It serves humour coupled with a insighful critique!

One of classic addition in Pakistan Movie Industry.👌 Mr Jindani gave his best like his previous series Commander Safeguard.😮 What an artistic script.💜 Direction, Sound, Dialogues, Animations and Graphics were too good.👏 Script touched all aspects of democracy in a humorous way.👍 Who said this movie is for children? A good story for Adults too to understanding the power of democracy.😋 Thank You Geo Films for giving this beautiful masterpiece after decades. :)

Note: There is absolutely no resemblance with Government or any other Political party.

Where to start? First, the characters. All poorly written, the Donkey MC is incompetent and unlikable, never grows. The villain, a Fox, is so hand-holding and breaks the fourth wall and talks to the audience for no reason (Fox, you are a bad guy, but not "Zach Morris" level of bad guy). The king and prince aren't that invested in the story and just go along here and there. The plot is convoluted starting from the Fox convincing the king to stepping down and rigging an election for the prince, and nominees for king are selected ala American Idol. Eventually there is a protest and revolution with the Donkey becoming King. Then things go wrong as the Donkey doesn't know what to do. Then citizens are disappearing. It turns out *gasp* the Fox was working with a HUMAN Circus Ringmaster in kidnapping the anthropomorphic citizens and the king and prince to sell them to the circus. (What?) Then a clunky chase scene ensues, with the Donkey saving the day. The king convinces the donkey to keep the crown, but the Donkey makes the King the Commander in Chief. Oh, what happened to the Ringmaster? I don't know, he was only around for five minutes. He didn't leave his lair, I guess. He only laughed and growled. That's it. The design is interesting, but it doesn't do any good when the animation is clunky. Please, criticism is required to teach these production teams what they got wrong and what can be done right next time. And I get that there's a grading curve because it's a first project for this Pakistani production team, and only the English dub is available, which made the movie messy in the first place. This was an ambitious start for the production team, but they should realize that they still have MILES to go against the rest of the world to be even considered a good studio, much less an excellent studio.

Contrary to how this picture has been and is being projected "Fun for all ages", I found only adults understanding the political satire thrown at the viewers throughout the movie while most of the children seemed oblivious and consequently uninterested at what was happening.

While the quality of animation was much improved as compared to previous Pakistani animated productions and so what the music, this movie comes out as just another attack on the new political government and while at it, the movie makers also question the current democratic system, role of media and of the hidden hand behind "elected" representatives.

Overall, the movie wasn't what it was portrayed out to be and turned out to be a big disappointment.

Do you know that this story from 2018 became true in 2019 in biggest country of Europe? Mr Zelensky is same The Donkey King, but unfortunate his is not such clever and fair and hi is in a middle of his story for beginning of 2020.

Giving 8 out of 10 just because of animation. It should be improved. The animation is same like we are watching safeguard commander in 2004. It's not looking a 2018 animated film.

It is conceptual and very realistic movie for south asian countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal etc

Politics and Voting systems are all ruled by Politicians. They operate and fund these election commissions. Ballets and Votings would never be perfect in those countries.

2018 and 2019 was the rise of Eastern animation cinema including The Donkey King from Pakistan that is actual in this years USA president election hype. You can see all their currency made into making this movie from animal fur and scales to the otherworld cities like an far East Zootopia. If you and your family loved Queen´s Corgi and Malaysian animated action movies watch this. Who knows which Eastern country will be cult on the net the West next year animation wise.

I must confess tht m genuinely impressed with the storyline, dialogues, animations n the finer personal touches of individual characters.. The only turn off for me were the bad reviewers who find an excuse to ridicule any n all things under the sky. Who says animated movies are not for kids but the age bracket is 8-80 or perhaps even more flexible. Was it obscene, profane or indecent... Hell No.. then what if kids remain oblivious of few of the punch lines . Do they lose interest, definitely NOT. They remain glued on to screens and it's a treat for the entire family.

I avoided this movie on purpose being presumptuous but when I watched it recently, I totally fell for it.

I wish our leaders watch it n realign themselves n so do all the people.

Trust me on this n give it a watch. M sure u will definitely enjoy it, recommend it n perhaps watch it again.

Stay blessed n watch decent stuff only. Consult parents guide on IMDb. Sincere prayers n wishes for all :)

A Good Pakistani Movie

It's actually a good movie for true animation lover. This movie is for all ages. All characters were awesome. Superbly written and directed. It has many morals for humans. The Music album of this movie was also great. I personally Like the Urdu version of this movie. Because it has so many comedy scenes with no vulgur jokes and scenes. Once in a life must watch. I specially like the voice of Jan Rambo, Hina Dilpazeer, Mani, Ismail Tara and Irfan Khoosat. The pivotal point of this movie was it's star cast. All the actors have worked so sincerely. Hope Pakistan make more movies like Donkey King......
