Kevin Spacey will appear as a character named “The Devil” in Italian director Massimo Paolucci’s psychological thriller “The Contract,” which just wrapped principal photography in Rome.
The English-language film, described in a statement as having a similar storyline as Alan Parker’s “Angel Heart” and Taylor Hackford’s “The Devil’s Advocate,” also stars Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, Italian production company Tm Entertainment said.
Spacey arrived in Rome last December to shoot “The Contract.”
Reps for Spacey, Roberts and Spano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The “House of Cards” star’s career imploded amid allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017, but he has since been found not liable in an October 2022 lawsuit brought by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp and was declared not guilty in a U.K. sexual assault trial in July 2023. "Chinatown" is one of the great masterpieces of American cinema. As a period piece, it cries out with nostalgia for a bygone past while commenting on the aimlessness of this very pursuit. Like the other accomplished neo-noirs of the New Hollywood movement (namely Robert Altman's "The Long Goodbye"), its detective story is disjointed and dreamlike. It is not a neat and satisfying narrative like a classic noir. Instead, it meanders fearlessly and aimlessly into the uneasy unknown.
Although it earned its only Oscar for its screenplay, it's hard to imagine "Chinatown" being half as good as it was without the unforgettable performances of its main cast. Sadly, as the 1974 film ages into legendary status, so too do the actors that made it so legendary.
Not every actor who made the 1974 mystery movie so great has lived to see it reach its 50-year anniversary in 2024. However, some of the greatest...

The real Bonnie and Clyde may have died in 1933, but the legend of the couple's crime spree lives on in the form of songs, stories, and one groundbreaking movie. Arthur Penn's "Bonnie and Clyde" took Hollywood by storm when it hit theaters in 1967, generating controversy for its on-screen violence and sensuality -- and kick-starting nationwide conversations about who deserves to be the subject of a movie. While film fans still talk about these topics today, the movie's brutal final shootout feels mild compared to modern blood-soaked movie scenes.
Still, "Bonnie and Clyde" is a fantastic film, thanks in large part to its great cast. Warren Beatty plays cocky Clyde Barrow to Faye Dunaway's initially innocent Bonnie Parker, while actors Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman, and Estelle Parsons round out the Barrow gang. A young Gene Wilder made his big screen debut as one of Clyde's hostages, while Denver...

Kevin Spacey has reignited his Christmas Eve tradition of posting a bizarre video of himself as his “House of Cards” character, Frank Underwood. This year, Spacey sat down for an interview with Tucker Carlson, where the two discussed Netflix and the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
“Every time a person pulls up the Netflix app. You’re there in some way, have you seen this?” Carlson asked, playing the Netflix “tudum” intro sound.
“Yes, you know what that is?” Spacey said, then pounded his fist on the table like Underwood does in “House of Cards.” “Boom, boom. So it is bizarre they decided to publicly cut ties with me on allegations alone, allegations that have now been proven false. Because I don’t think there’s any question. Netflix exists because of me. I put them on the map and they tried to put me in the ground.”

Days after a London jury acquitted him of sexual assault, Kevin Spacey is back in the public eye — or at least the public ear — in the trailer for a new movie, Control. He portrays “The Voice” in the clip, speaking to Great Britain’s home secretary (Bridgerton’s Lauren Metcalfe) as he remotely takes control of her car and terrorizes her for some supposed misdeeds she’s committed politically. The car, which also contains the prime minister’s daughter, hits a pedestrian and hurdles toward oncoming traffic.

In mid-June, less than two weeks before the start of Kevin Spacey’s U.K. criminal trial over multiple sexual assault charges, the German publication ZEITmagazin featured an interview with the actor in which he said he anticipated working again almost immediately should he be found not guilty.
“There are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London,” he declared. “The second that happens, they’re ready to move forward.”
Such bold claims may come back to haunt the two-time Oscar winner, who was found not guilty of all nine charges he was facing in the U.K. In November, he was also found not liable in the New York civil case brought by U.S. actor Anthony Rapp.
With Spacey legally exonerated, is his claim that producers are now lining up to cast him true? And if so,...

Kevin Spacey has addressed the press corps following Wednesday’s not guilty verdict in his London sexual assault trial and after two days of deliberations — his first time speaking out since legal proceedings began on June 28.
Earlier Wednesday, the Oscar-winning “American Beauty” actor was cleared of all nine charges of sexual assault, indecent assault, and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity after the jury heard from four men who made complaints against him.
As broadcast by BBC World News, Spacey told reporters, “I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what just happened today. I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached their decision, and I am humbled by the outcome today.

Kevin Spacey has emerged victorious in court yet again, as he has been found not guilty of all nine charges related to sexual misconduct, including seven of sexual assault. On Wednesday, Kevin Spacey’s trial concluded after nearly four weeks, with the jury deciding after a 12-hour deliberation that the four men who accused the two-time Academy Award-winning actor of crimes did not have a strong enough case. That’s a pretty good birthday present, as Spacey turns 64 today.
In addition to the seven counts of sexual assault, Spacey also faced charges of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity, all of which occurred between 2001 and 2013. As per reports from the trial, Kevin Spacey was emotional during the reading of the verdicts.

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey gets a thrill by preying on other men, a prosecutor told jurors during his sexual assault trial Friday in a London courtroom.
Spacey is “a man who does not respect personal boundaries or space, a man who it would seem delights in making others feel powerless and uncomfortable — a sexual bully,” Prosecutor Christine Agnew said in her opening statement. “His preferred method of assault is, it appears, to grab aggressively other men in the crotch.”
The four men who have accused Spacey of sexual assault did not know each other, but all “had the misfortune to attract” his attention, she said.
Spacey, 63, has pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges including sexual assault, indecent assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault trial in London is set to begin later this week after jury selection wrapped Wednesday, June 28.
As The Associated Press reports, 14 jurors (including two alternates) were seated without objections from the prosecution or defense. Interestingly, for such a high-profile case, it seems as if no one was disqualified from the jury for prior knowledge about Spacey.
At one point, the judge overseeing the case outwardly acknowledged Spacey’s fame to the potential jurors, saying, “I am sure the defendant will be gratified to know that...

Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey walked into a London courtroom Wednesday to face trial on charges of sexually assaulting four men as long as two decades ago.
The actor was dressed in a dark blue suit, light blue shirt and pink tie as he was called by his full name and asked if he was Kevin Spacey Fowler.
“I am,” he said as he stood behind a window in the dock.
Spacey, 63, has pleaded not guilty to a dozen charges including sexual assault, indecent assault and causing a person to engage in sex activity without consent. He could face a prison sentence if convicted.
Spacey nodded and smiled at potential jurors as Justice Mark Wall told them that they may know Spacey by name or have seen his films.

Italy’s National Cinema Museum On Why They Gave Kevin Spacey His First Public Platform In Five Years
Exclusive: Italy’s National Cinema Museum in the northern Italian city of Turin is one of the country’s most popular museums welcoming more than 600,000 visitors in 2022.
The institution made international headlines this week when it honored Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey with a lifetime achievement award and a masterclass.
The event marked Spacey’s first big public appearance since his career was put on ice in 2017 following a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Monday’s celebration of the actor raised eyebrows in the U.S. and the U.K., where the Oscar-winner will go on trial in June on 12 sexual assault charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty, but was largely viewed as a success in Italy.
Enthusiastic fans flocked to the awards ceremony and masterclass, an accompanying special screening of American Beauty was sold-out, and there was barely a whiff of controversy around the politics of his visit in Italian media.

Kevin Spacey was given a lifetime achievement award by Italy’s National Museum of Cinema in Turin on Monday (16 January).
At the event, the actor gave his first speaking engagement in more than five years, during which time the actor has faced a string of sexual abuse allegations.

The actor gave his gratitude to the museum “for having had ‘Le Palle’ – [Italian for ‘balls’] to invite me tonight.”
He also thanked the museum’s director Domenico De Gaetano: “By presenting this award, they are making a strong defence of artistic achievement and for that, they should be applauded.”
Prior to the event, Spacey denied going underground since the allegations against him surfaced in 2017.

Italy’s National Museum of Cinema in Turin on Monday paid tribute to Oscar-winning U.S. actor Kevin Spacey, presenting the American Beauty and House of Cards star with its highest honor, the Stella della Mole Award for lifetime achievement. Enzo Ghigo, president of the National Museum, and Vittorio Sgarbi, Undersecretary to the Italian Ministry of Culture, presented Spacey with the prize.

Kevin Spacey took the opportunity to praise his manager Evan Lowenstein in a passionate speech Monday, receiving a lifetime achievement award prize prior to holding a master class at Italy’s National Museum of Cinema in Turin.
The occasion was Spacey’s first speaking engagement in more than five years, during which the Oscar-winning actor has been embroiled in several legal battles centered on sexual assault charges.
“The first performance that I ever gave was in my junior high school drama class. It was a little five-minute scene that we had to create, with no words,” Spacey started out. “But we could have music. I was 11 years old. And I decided to do a Western scene, so that I could play a cowboy. Well, a bank robber. The bad guy, naturally.”
Spacey then went on: “I have been so honored to have been part of the creative process with so many remarkable people.

Five years (and multiple bizarre holiday videos) after Kevin Spacey was cut out of Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World,” the “American Beauty” actor is making his return to Hollywood.
The Oscar winner will star in upcoming UK/Hungarian/Mongolian co-production “1242 – Gateway to the West,” which reportedly marks his largest feature to date since the 2017 accusations. Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Terence Stamp, and newcomers Jeremy Neumark-Jones and Genevieve Florence also star.
“1242” tells the story of Genghis Khan’s military commander grandson Batu Khan, who was elected commander in chief of the western part of the Mongol empire. Per an official synopsis, in 1242, Khan is confronted by a deeply spiritual man named Cesareani (Spacey) and a castle in Hungary that halts his invasion of Europe and ultimately causes his downfall.

Mena Suvari is opening up about her experience making the 1999 Best Picture-winning film “American Beauty.” The actress spoke to People about how she remembers an “unusual experience” with Kevin Spacey in the lead-up to shooting an intimate scene on the film, in which Suvari stars as a high school cheerleader being lusted after by Spacey’s character. (Spacey won a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance.)
Suvari said she “trusted” Spacey on the set of the movie, but that one experience did leave her with a strange feeling. She says to prepare for a scene one day, Spacey brought her into a side room. There, they laid “on the bed very close to one another,” Suvari told People. “He was sort of gently holding me. It was very peaceful but weird and unusual.”
Suvari also said that when sexual abuse claims began to surface against the actor in 2017, “I thought of that day.

Faye Dunaway, the Oscar winner known for films such as “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Chinatown” and “Network,” has joined the cast of what will be Kevin Spacey’s first film since being accused of sexual assault, “The Man Who Drew God.”
The film’s producer Louis Nero told TheWrap that Dunaway (not pictured above) has joined the cast, which also includes Diego Casale, Stefania Rocca, Robert Davi and Franco Nero, who both stars in and directs “The Man Who Drew God.”
The film, also known under its Italian title, “L’uomo che disegnò Dio,” is the story of a blind artist who can draw portraits just by listening to human voices. According to Nero, Dunaway plays Tasha, an elderly woman with “a pained face but a vivid light in her eyes.” She was formerly the main character’s Braille teacher and becomes something of a mother figure in his life.

While Leos Carax’s “Annette” set the tone for the first day of the Cannes Film Festival, it was Jodie Foster who stole the show early on Wednesday.
Foster was presented with an honorary Palme D’Or at the opening night ceremony, in which Pedro Almodóvar, Foster, “Parasite” director Bong Joon-Ho and jury president Spike Lee each declared (in their own languages) the Cannes Film Festival “open.” But if you needed more of a reminder that Foster can really do it all, she conducted her press conference interview on Wednesday almost entirely in French.
In an interview with Bfmtv, Foster explained that being at Cannes as a young girl for “Taxi Driver” in 1976 brought back some memories of how she used her ability to speak French as a way of making a connection.
“They were afraid because everyone said that the film was too violent, there were criticisms, so they...

Producer of Italian paedophilia drama says ‘controversy has generated plenty of interest and has been good for the film’
Faye Dunaway will appear in Italian paedophilia drama The Man Who Drew God, which features Kevin Spacey in a small role as part of the latter’s attempt to resuscitate his acting career after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct over the past four years.
According to Variety, the film’s producer Louis Nero says Dunaway will play a “braille teacher who is an old friend of the blind protagonist”; the latter is played by veteran Italian film-maker Franco Nero, who also directs. Vanessa Redgrave, who is married to the director, was widely reported to have been cast in the film, but a statement from her agent in May denied she had agreed to appear. Variety quotes Louis Nero as saying: “It’s the role that Vanessa Redgrave was meant to have.

Faye Dunaway will appear alongside Kevin Spacey in his controversial new project, “The Man Who Drew God.”
Directed by Italian actor Franco Nero, who also stars, the feature will be Spacey’s first role since 2017, when dozens of accusations of sexual harassment and assault saw the “House of Cards” actor effectively ostracized from Hollywood.
Nero’s wife, the actor Vanessa Redgrave, was originally believed to be appearing in the film, and received social media backlash regarding her starring role alongside Spacey, who has never publicly acknowledged the multiple allegations against him. Shortly after she was linked with the project, Redgrave’s reps issued a statement distancing the actor from the project.

When news leaked last month that disgraced “House of Cards” actor Kevin Spacey had landed his first acting gig in over four years, taking on a supporting role in an Italian indie film, the backlash on social media was instantaneous — and intense.
It was enough to prompt veteran actor Vanessa Redgrave, whose husband Franco Nero is directing and starring in the feature, “L’umo Che Disegno Dio” (The Man Who Drew God), to publicly distance herself from the project. “While there have been discussions about the possibility of her joining the cast, she will not appear in the film,” her representative said in a statement.
For Spacey’s alleged victims, news of his casting was yet another unwelcome reminder of a period of time they would much rather forget. “It’s definitely a pain in the ass every time he does something that becomes a story,” said one individual, who...
