The movie world premiered on February 18, 2021 at the Hollywood Legion Drive-in. Linton's husband, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, did not attend. Only 25 cars showed up and half of them left before the movie was over, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Louise Linton came up with the concept for You Me Madness after falling asleep in a hot car following a trip to the pharmacy. She described a 'Doors-like vision' of an indigenous man telling her to make a movie about a girl-boss serial killer. So she did.
According to Vanity Fair, Linton changes outfits 42 times in the movie in the 98 minute movie.
The curving glass-and-steel home where the bulk of the film was shot is a common filming location. The Malibu mansion was designed by architect Ed Niles and is set on nearly 17 acres on a private knoll. Other movies shot there are Starship Troopers, Face / Off, Gone in 60 Seconds, Fun with Dick and Jane , The Benchwarmers, and Britney Spears' "Work B**ch" music video.
Louise Linton's directorial debut almost didn't happen. Filming began on Me You Madness in November 2018, but had to be shut down when the Woolsey fire blazed through Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The Woolsey fire was the most destructive fire in LA County history and 295,000 people evacuated. Production was shut down for several months. A special note of thanks is included in the end credits to thank those affected.
