Chapter Three: A Bag of Gravel (2019)
Ninette Finch: Old Lady
Quotes
-
Old Lady : [She sees Scrooge slip on black ice and land hard on his back] Oh, you poor man! Are you all right?
Ebenezer Scrooge : [He looks around in realization] I am more than all right. I can feel.
[He starts to sit up]
Ebenezer Scrooge : And I can feel that I can feel.
Old Lady : [She's confused] Feel what?
Ebenezer Scrooge : [He starts to stand, hand on his bum as he grimaces in discomfort] At the moment, a pain in my ass. Oh, ouch! Yes.
Old Lady : [She looks apologetic] I was meaning to sprinkle it on the ice earlier, but with it being Christmas, I forgot.
Ebenezer Scrooge : [He eyes the bag of gravel she has] Yes... yes.
[He takes a couple of fragments of gravel]
Ebenezer Scrooge : Everything in life is a lesson, if you care to learn. The sprinkling of gravel on ice is an action taken by a person for the benefit of others, without expectation of any reward of any kind.
[He comes to a realization]
Ebenezer Scrooge : A whole new philosophy on human nature, encapsulated in a handful of gravel.
[He turns away slightly, deep in thought]
Old Lady : [She is concerned] Did you hit your head?
[Scrooge snaps out of his thoughts and faces her looking contrite]
Ebenezer Scrooge : Forgive me.
[He grabs her bag of gravel and runs to the pond]
