The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Much overrated
The movie is just as overrated as the book is. I like fantasy and read a lot of it, but Tolkien just doesn't "get there" with his stories, and neither does this movie. The movie itself is beautifully done, but without the backing of a solid story, the whole thing is just meaningless.
It might have been worth the watch if they had actually finished the story (i.e combined the three books) and removed 2½ hours of the fighting scenes. As of now, it just felt like a three hour wait before the end where almost nothing had happened.
Kudos for the nice environments and soundtrack, though.
The 13th Warrior (1999)
Could have used a plot
For an action movie, it was quite okay. It could, however, had used a little more thought-out plot. It didn't say much about why things happened, like, in the beginning of the movie, what the heck where the vikings doing down in Arabia anyway? And where did they go?
Space: Above and Beyond (1995)
Shifting quality
The series were of a very shifting quality. The first half of the series wasn't very good, but the latter was... very good, and only got better and better.
It's just unfortunate that the series was ended prematurely. I hate it when that happens with good shows.
Earth 2 (1994)
Wonderful
This series was just wonderful. It had everything, the science fiction, the Robinson Crusoe-effect, the psychological aspect... Everything!
It's just too bad it didn't get a real ending. I still wonder what was meant to happen. It just is sad.
Babylon 5 (1993)
Just like a long movie
This series is so well thought through that it almost seems like one long movie. In the early episodes you don't see it very much, but after having seen the whole series, and begun to watch it from the beginning again, I see loads of references to the upcoming seasons even in the first episodes.
It is just so magnificent!
Lost in Space (1998)
Where's the ending?
Packed with special effects, but not as much plot. The movie seemed only to have gone half-way through when it suddenly ended.
Or, is it just a pilot episode of a nineties version of the classic series?
But still, not a bad movie.
