Most of the movies I have reviewed fall in the "cheesy" category:
2 May 2002
...And so does this one. This movie is just plain ridiculous. But It made me laugh, as a comedy, this movie works very well. One of the best things about this movie is its lead actor. The Rock had just the right level of charisma to lead this picture (It doesn't hurt that he realized just how silly a movie this is and obviously had fun with it).

So as mind-numbing Eye candy goes, you could do a whole lot worse than watching this movie.

I have mixed feelings about this movie.
2 November 1999
No one can argue that the Blair Witch Project was a failure from a marketing standpoint. Everyone in the world has heard the stories about the costs and the revenues. In that respect, it was an unquestionable success.

As far as the movie goes...Well that is another story.

You all know the story, it's been hashed through and through. I'll skip all that and go straight to the review. This movie has scary moments, unfortunatly they were only in the last twenty minutes or so. Does the rest of the movie keep your interest? Yes and no. This movie has a "real" aspect to it, the problem is that real life is mundane. Most people go to films to escape reality, and when they are faced with mundane reality (people looking at twigs and going "boo!", it can get dull for some. I, however, found it interesting in a "Real World" voyer kind of way. Then when the characters do things that would never, ever happen in real-life (i.e. what happens to the map). That just wrenches you out of the story and completely kills your suspension of disbelief, you realize that you've been watching a movie for the last 45 minutes and nothing at all has happened.

The bottom line is, this movie was hyped...bad. Nothing could live up to the expectations people had. The only thing that could possibly save this movie for people just now seeing it, is if you could somehow forget the past few months of commercials, emails, and testimonials; and just watch an interesting little experiment from a couple of young, talented filmakers.

Murder in a Small Town (1999 TV Movie)
Overall, very nice.
10 January 1999
It's been a long time since I have seen old Gene on the screen (couldn't resist). Gene Wilder's Murder is a class act all the way. Interesting characters, good mystery, overall very nice. The third act of the movie did feel hurried. I think it was less than 15 minutes (screen time) from second murder to conclusion. I also get the feeling that this was a prep for a series of movies. Some of the characters were given strong introductions only to disappear (like the daughter) and others were a little weak overall (Gene's girlfriend). I hope that they do more movies with these characters. I wouldn't mind revisiting the material.

Purgatory (1999 TV Movie)
Westerns & Supernatural just don't mix right? Wrong.
10 January 1999
I love the western. It's a great stage for just about anything. However Westerns & Supernatural just don't mix right? Wrong. This was pretty good. Interesting story, Good heroes, and better Villains. The most interesting character in this was Sam Shepard's Forest/Wild Bill. He could see what needed to be done but for his own salvation he had to let his friends die. What would you do if it was your soul on the line? Minor problems kept this from being a great movie. Sometimes the score didn't fit (I mean it was way off the action) and the Cinematography was iffy. But hey, it was definitely original and definitely worth a look. If you like this check out Pale Rider or Desperadoes (The comic book). Both of those mix the supernatural with the western to provide interesting stories as well.

Fear (1996)
Is it possible to hate a movie but love a character?
10 January 1999
This movie reminds me of those old fifties flicks like "Curfew Breakers!" and such. The message of this movie is: "Girls, don't get hot and heavy with boys or they will turn into homicidal maniacs who kill little puppies!" The Cheese factor is so high in this that even I couldn't stomach it. At least until Mark Wahlberg did his flip-out thing. I was impressed with his acting the whole movie, but when he did his kill everybody routine, I lapped it up. He was excellent. Crazy down to the core. I liked his performance so much,I watched it again (Fast-forwarding through everything else). This one is a decent rental, check it out.

Omega Doom (1996)
Crap can be fun
8 January 1999
Take elements of "Fistful of Dollars" (or Yojimbo) Sprinkle in "The Terminator" and you get this movie. Oh and it is a bad movie, no doubt. I enjoyed it thoroughly. There aren't that many westerns left these days and this movie doesn't hide its roots. There are no less than 4 showdowns! Like I said however, it's crap. But crap can be fun.

Oblivion (1994)
Crap can be fun...and this is really crappy.
8 January 1999
This is a seriously cheesy movie. And ooooh is it bad. But I feel this fits the "So-bad-it's-good" moniker. There is nothing here that is actually "good" (except the ceiling fans on the street lights). But Hey, if you're going to watch a Full-Moon Entertainment movie with the Tagline of "it's cowboys and Aliens" you can't be expecting much. Check your brain at the door and WHOOO DOGGY!

I enjoyed it...

There are not too many movies out there that manage to be truly erotic. This movie did not just slap naked people on the screen in hopes of a reaction. No, the sex in this movie actually moved the story along and served a purpose. All the while, it was photographed beautifully in lush environments. I thought this was an excellent romantic movie to watch with your loved one.

Voyagers! (1982–1983)
I used to love this show!

I used to watch this show as a kid and absolutely loved it. Sci-Fi channel re-runs it from time to time and I heartily recommend you recording it for younger children to watch. It's cool and educational too.
