Targets (1968)
Classic - Well worth checking out
Bogdanvovich's directorial debut, this is often thought as as an anti-gun flick, but it is much more. A Karloff classic, with lots of inside jokes. Watch for Jack Nicholson on the drive-in screen. A great flick, a great slice of 60's USA.
Last Summer (1969)
An unexpected surprise
I started to watch this film for a few retro-laughs. I didn't expect to become so completely involved. This movie is a real treat!!
Out There (1995)
Computer lingo adds to movie
This is a good popcorn movie for lighthearted viewing and entertainment. The reason I give this movie an above average score is due to the use of computer lingo within the script. That may seem like a silly reason at first, but the movie was made in 1994? and released in 1995, so the terminology was state of the art (sort of) for the time, and still better then some of the big name rubbish still being produced.
Metropolis (1927)
A fantastic movie, a must see
I was shocked to find myself riveted to this movie. This is without a doubt the best sci-fi movie I've ever seen! Let me explain my position. We have all seen modern sci-fi movies, and argued over which is the best ever made, but those film makers have high speed film and computers. Imagine trying to make a movie today with only the tools available to Fritz Lang in 1925, and even if you used a modern camcorder it would be nigh impossible! This is a must see for all persons interested in the history of film, as well as just good fun for everyone. The social metaphores as well as the religious and philosophical double meanings are a sight to behold.
