Mighty Joe Young (1998)
YOU CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES
I have been a weekly movie fan for almost 50 years, and have always enjoyed spotting the special effects and the stuntmen. But ever since "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", it is clear you can no longer believe your eyes in a movie. Mighty Joe Young reaffirms this point. If John Alexander was in gorilla suit, I couldn't tell when, or if it was a model or animatronic. Computers have given movie-making a great deal of wonderous options, but I kinda miss "the good olde days".
I enjoyed the movie, as did the full house of kids and adults I screened it with. It isn't too often ones hears clapping and cheering at the end of a movie. If they make a sequel, it will be interesting to see what storyline they will come up with.
