Dragon Ball Z: Doragon bôru zetto (1989)
Don't touch my dragonballs!
This isn't the greatest show you can find. The animation is rather choppy and the storylines and dialogue can be rather formulaic, but it does have its appeal. From what I've seen you'd be better off buying the english comic version being released by Viz or the original Japanese volumes. What's saddest about DBZ is how far the censorship has gone with it. I can understand not having the characters swearing like in the original, but c'mon kids have heard the word death before. Also the editing on the fight scenes is preposterously choppy and sometimes weird. At one point they wouldn't show a child getting slapped, but later they show him getting kneed in the stomach and throwing up on the ground. Odd. The voices in the American show are for the most part okay especially Piccolo. The major concern is Freeza. Just hope they change the voice before die hard fans start having seizures.
Overkill (1987)
The greatest Anti-Japanese Miami Vice rip off of the 80's!
WOAH! That's all I can say about Overkill! It has some of the greatest dialogue I have ever heard. Example- Guy: Sayonara. Guy2:What does that mean? Guy: It means goodbye. Never have I seen the horrors of the yakuza so expertly portrayed in a mindless action movie! I mean look at this guy! He kills people with a sword! Cool! See this movie and maybe they'll make Overkill 2: Ohaiyo! What does that mean?
Mitchell (1975)
One of the lesser known George Lucas produced movies
Mitchell is a tough cop. You want proof? He sits in a car for most of the movie doing nothing! That's what I call tough! But he does redeem himself by killing a bunch of people at the end. Martin Balsam got stuck with this role while he was shooting Twelve Angry Men 2, but pulls off his performance as drug dealer Rupert Murdoch very well. And Joe Don Baker is great as the beer spilling, playboy reading, lazy ass cop who only manages to arrest his girl friend in the movie. Well, actually he's terrible in the role which was originally going to be for Alec Guiness. I'm glad that the director changed his name when he directed Jaws.
The Norm Show (1999)
Wow! It's actually good.
Now, I know that a lot of people didn't like Dirty Work, but for those who did watch this show. Norm McDonald's a former hockey player who is forced to become a social worker as part of his community service for tax evasion and gambling. I was expecting his character to be watered down and be an okay guy, but he comes across as being a selfish jerk which was a pleasant surprise. Check this show out before it gets canceled.
Wing Commander (1999)
GREAT MOVIE!
WOW! I couldn't believe how awesomely awesome this movie is! I mean it's cooly unbelievably wicked! You see there are these guys and they're killing monsters in outer space! That is sooo radical! And all the actors are goodly kicking in their roles! The best movie of the year!
