Angry Cafe (1995)
Beautifully shot tale of mistaken identity.
The gorgeous cinematography in "Angry Cafe" lends to the clausterphobia of being stuck in a cafe during rain storm, which is where and when most of the story takes place. Race and gender relations in this film work to create a sense of the mistrust felt between different cultures as well as with strangers. The contrast of the dark cafe against the bright, washed out hallucinations of one of the patrons in the cafe demonstrates the misguided attributes that can be associated with misidentification.
One Little Indian (1993)
This is a great film.
"One Little Indian" is a touching tale of a young man searching for his birth father after his mother's death. This is a student film that reaches to the depths of what a child feels for a parent, even when that parent has been estranged for 15 years. The acting is superb, and in 20 minutes, the characters are fully developed. I highly recommend this film.
