King Arthur (2004)

Fun action movie
11 February 2006
Completely unrealistic, other than "Arthur" may have had some Roman roots.

The crossbow wasn't invented for hundreds of years after that.

If "Hadrian's Wall" had been that well built and big, I'd be writing this in Latin.

The "Pope" didn't have much power in about 400AD, and certainly couldn't order the army or government to do anything.

Oil in the UK? Finally found under the North Sea, but nearly 2000 years layer.

Other than being totally inaccurate as far as history goes, it's a fun action movie with great(but inaccurate) costumes.

I gave it a 6, as I can watch it a few times.

Interesting to see in today's light
19 August 2005
Great movie, then and now!

Insurgents fight against the armies liberating their country.

The invading army thinks they are freeing the people from an evil government, but have to resort to terror tactics to control the population.

But it's the USA that's being "liberated", and the insurgents are our kids.

Finally the insurgents become heroes of the freed nation.

Interesting as well by the then young actors: Patrick Swayze C. Thomas Howell Lea Thompson Charlie Sheen Jennifer Grey Brad Savage

That makes it even more interesting.

Kind of a poor version of Black Widow
10 February 2004
Debra Winger's 1987 "Black Widow" is MUCH better.

This is like a lame version, and Jane Seymour usually does better.

Chad Allen is pretty poor in this too. Just playing his usual role as a boring rebellious child.

Maybe the both of them being from Dr. Quinn was supposed to make us get excited.

If it's on, go grab a copy of "Black Widow".

Kind of dated movie
9 February 2004
Kind of dated'80s sort of comedy movie.

It was cute then.

High point is TC dropping his pants, and dancing.

He was still cute back then.

This movie was Tom Cruise's claim to fame, probably still is.

Great Movie, if you can find a real copy
7 February 2004
Like others have said, most copies are incomplete, and a bit lost.

The one I got from Amazon a couple years ago is missing many scenes. Most importantly the last one (referred to in the opening, so that it no longer makes any sense).

To make it worse, the sound is like an 8 track in a noisy 68 Pontiac!

The original is one of my favorite movies. Well done, good story, wish I could find it!

OH YUCK!
24 January 2004
The bad out takes from "Reign of Fire" strung together, without any real story.

Dean Cain tries to be a real actor, and fails again.

In the end the dragons quit in disgust.

BARF!

Comic book saber tooth attacks!
10 January 2004
Probably some of the WORST special effects ever.

Bad, plot, acting, "tiger", a complete waste of film.

How did they con these people into making it???

The "tiger" makes Daffy Duck look real!

The original, filmed in "White-o-vision"
2 January 2004
It's a great old movie. And for it's age holds up well.

Unfortunately filled in "white-o-vision" where there are no people of color in olde England or the future.

Apparently the future of the human race (at least above ground) is to look like a bunch of blond Swedes.

Or was the idiocy of those people a statement? Naw.. it was 1960...

Fun Action Movie
15 November 2003
Keanu Reeves finds out playing a straight guy pays bucks.

He overdoes it, but it does make for a distracting action flick.

Completely unbelievable.

And REALLY dumb, but fun.

Many missed the point
14 October 2003
Marx (Groucho)in 1933 made the first parody of Hitler in this movie.

A crazy person taking over the bankrupt country, with appeals to the patriots, and seducing the rich obviously American widow.

It took Chaplin another 7 years to do The Great Dictator.

The Marx brothers saw it the year Hitler took power.

11 October 2003
Maybe it was cool 30+ years ago, but the thing is really STUPID today.

Two long lost actors try to be so *special*.

Watch it if you want a time trip to the late '60s.

Don't expect a good movie.

Absolutely Horrible!
26 September 2003
It is so bad that it's near a comedy.

One enjoyment is noticing how Lambert with white hair, looks increasingly like Leslie Nielsen as the movie progresses.

Especially during the fight scenes from about mid-way on, just start to look for Leslie Nielsen. Even the special effects start to look like "Naked Gun".

Actually "the "Naked Gun" series is far better than this trash!

Bad Cartoon "eels" attack fake subs
9 August 2003
HORRID!!

The special effects make the TV version of "Tremors" look real!

No one in the cast can act.

Kind of like the '62 "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" meets the cartoon ocean going electric eel cartoons.

Absolutely GREAT!
1 February 2003
I agree with some others that those to young to remember might miss it all.

But a great parody of one of the biggest events of the century.

I avoided it for a long time, as I was sick of Nixon movies. But after a friend loaned me a copy, this has become one of my favorites.

If your 4ish+ you will love it, if you are too young, watch it with Mom & Dad so they can explain everything.

Yeah, they don't look the right age, and there is a lot of silly stuff, that makes it more fun.

Who knows, maybe it's true.

Sing "Hello Dolly" with the guys!

Mad Max meets the Dragons
31 December 2002
Mad Max meets the Dragons.

What a silly waste of film. A decent idea with a horrid film attached. And they could have saved a lot of money using B&W film; the rare color of note is only the flames. Grey, blue and black are poor tools. Maybe it's supposed to remind us of old WWII films?

The Disney version will probably be better.

A study in why simply adding fire and big booms to a movie is not enough.

And why, when in species danger, do humans have to dress up as medieval persons?

Christian Bale should have quit at 15 and become a tax collector, duller than the sharp end of an egg.

Don't pay for it, wait for it on Mystery Theater 3000.

Conan the Next Generation
6 December 2002
Conan, without Arnold Schwarzenegger or James Earl Jones. With a bit of the Punk Huns meet the Arabs & Egyptians added.

There must have been a sale at a surplus costume shop from assorted old movies from all times as well.

Not bad if you're 14 and missed the original Conan, but wait till it's on free TV.

Maybe if they had added Rip Torn from "Beastmaster" it would have helped.

Don't be fooled, NOTHING to do with the Scorpion King from Mummy 2!!!!! (Except "The Rock".)

Go watch the 1960 version, ignore this one.
6 December 2002
YUCK!!!

Once again proving that special effects alone can't make a good movie.

Simon Wells should go back to animation, and stop ruining his Grandfather's work.

The Morlocks are just the apes from the recent "Planet of" re-dressed and hopping about again.

Actually if they had Marky Mark star in this bomb, it could have made it as a poor satire or weak comedy!

Go watch the 1960 version, ignore this one.

Considerably better than I expected.
6 December 2002
Considerably better than I expected.

Aaliyah was fantastic, perfect for the part. And it is sad she is gone. Townsend was not a good Lestat, so I cannot envision a sequel.

It was far too much of the books to cover in such a short time, and strayed a bit from the stories, but fun to watch. Not "Interview", but neither was the book.

I wonder if someone who hasn't read the books can enjoy it though, other than as a "Vampire" movie?

I was surprised at Townsend being in the part, after the rumors of his and Tom Cruise's romance I would have thought they'd have avoided him.

Massive Stars, poor movie

Michael Caine, Fred MacMurray, Henry Fonda, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark, Richard Chamberlain, Olivia de Havilland, Ben Johnson, Lee Grant, José Ferrer, Patty Duke, Bradford Dillman, Cameron Mitchell, & Alejandro Rey must have been short on cash to make this bomb!!!

My favorite movie!
21 February 2002
A grand reversal of "The Christmas Carol".

Very funny, but *perhaps* viewing the BlackAdder series is a prerequisite so you know the characters. (Well at least the first 3 series.)

Amanda Richardson does the switch from Elizabeth I to the future perfectly.

And BlackAdder's progression, vs. Baldrick's progression are shown well.

An annual event here!

YUCK! Dumb....
16 February 2002
Lou Diamond Phillips attempts to do a Kevin Bacon type(Tremors)horror movie spoof. But fails.. Dismally.

Basically the evil government creates nasty bio-bats who kill everyone not on full pay.

The evil government then wants to blow everyone up, but Kevin (oppps.. Lou) saves us all...

It should be called "Bats" 3.. cuz only the third remake could this bad!

Dull, stupid, and Lou are getting old....

OK, I gave it a 3 BUT..
6 February 2002
The kids loved it. Glued to the screen. So if you want one, not tooo scary, that they will like. Try this one. Silly & dumb, and no more Kevin Bacon, but a good one for the kids. Vaugely related to the other two versions.

Good for the kids
11 January 2002
Many have damned it.

But the kids were stuck to the screen, and quiet for 2 hours! (OK, a few shouts and screams, but less than usual.)

Makes it a good movie for me.

Dumb things, heravores eating others, etc., but a good flick for the kids.

Give me more that keep the attention of children!!!!

Cute
7 September 2001
The only time Robert Rusler attempted to act. Not bad, better than he was in "Weird Science".

His best part was when he showed up early in his underwear.

Chris Makepeace was cool in this one. What ever happened to him?
